Alkaline Trio releases new custom Nikes

Alkaline Trio releases new custom Nikes

In lieu of the band’s newest album Agony And Irony due to be released on July 1st, the beloved Chicago trio announced on Punknews today that they’ve partnered with Nike to release a custom brand shoe on July 11th. The Heart and Sole Air Zoom Crush, as it has been dubbed, will see a previewed release in Huntington Beach on June 27th before going national.

Lead singer Matt Skiba elaborated on the project:

We chose red and black as the main colors to reflect our Chicago roots and pay homage to the Bulls. We are huge fans. I’m also into sneakers, so seeing the swoosh and our logo on one product is unbelievable. The shoe looks amazing and provides some insight into who we are.

Punknews also elaborated on the details regarding the shoe’s construction and features:

Custom design elements include reflective details and bike-tread inspired graphics, correlating to the band’s formative years in Chicago where the members met while working as bike messengers. Distressed materials translate the punk ethos, and the Alkaline Trio logo is featured on the heel cup. The Heart and Sole Cush is constructed of all synthetics, supporting select band members who are vegetarian.

Who knows what’s in store next. For now, the band is currently on their summer tour.

  1. I have to admit, I like how A3 are going about this. It’s nice to see a band make a typical sell-out move into something personal and great for fans to have.

The unfortunate part is that it will more than likely be meshed with Hot Topic’s garbage fashion sense.

We will be seeing another onslaught of supposed punk junkies with No Doubt in their headphones, wearing these sneakers and rockin’ Jack Skeleton hooded sweatshirts in 95 degree summer heat to ‘make a statement’.

Ah, the adolescent rebels meet Old Navy, and all is hell.

  2. There might be a tie between being vegetarian and not wanting to use animal products in clothing. However they are not mutually exclusive. They should call the members “Animal Friendly” or something of that sort. You don’t eat your clothes/shoes.
