Conan O’Brien is a man of music

Sure, Conan O’Brien has always expressed his affinity for music, frequently nabbing top notch musical guests and pleasing his audience with various guitar renditions, but particuarly of late, the late night talk host has been stepping up his game.

Last month, O’Brien appeared as a guest DJ on Santa Monica’s KCRW Radio, sharing five songs that have inspired and influenced the television star throughout his life. While we’ll let you hear (the audio) and read (the transcript) for yourself, lets just say Conan has a pretty stellar taste in music. After all, just check out his selections:

  • The Clash - “Wrong Em Boyo”
  • The White Stripes - “Ball and Biscuit”
  • Bob Dylan - “Buckets of Rain”
  • Radiohead - “Fake Plastic Trees”
  • Beatles - “My Bonnie”

“I’ve always actually wanted to be the musical guest, I would rather do that than be the comedian,” O’Brien notes in the begining of his DJ session. While that dream didn’t come to a fruition last night, he at least got to hang, and even act, with the show’s musical guest…

Hey, he’s getting closer…
