Check Out: A secret, new Weezer song
Since the release of The Red Album, Weezer has been gaining as much attention for their quirky bonus material and covers littered throughout the web than the actual sixth studio album itself.
After all, at last count, my digital copy of The Red Album features nine bonus tracks (and I’m sure I’m still missing a few), while you can currently find the band “hooting and hollering” at fans with covers of Radiohead.
So it really should come as no surprise that another new Weezer song has made its way onto the internet. Though little is still known about “Turnin’, Turnin”, the song, originally discovered on Youtube, has been confirmed as legit by the band’s repersentitves.
After a quick listen, it certainly sounds as if “Turnin’ Turnin” echoes many of the same sounds and styles found on The Red Album. It’s almost as if Rivers Cuomo stumbled upon The Killers - only this song’s not half bad. In fact, it’s better than at least three or four of the tracks that made the final cut of The Red Album, even offering a sentimental swing in Cuomo’s crooning here that seems lost in much of the new material.
Update: Turns out this is the song written by Weezer AND their fans…
