The Verve title fourth LP

The Verve title fourth LP

UK rockers The Verve came back last year. We all know that. They performed at this year’s Coachella and, as of late, have been roaming the European waters through touring and what not. What makes this reunion-of-all-sorts interesting is that they’re actually putting it to good use and following up 1997’s Urban Hymns. Let me do the math for you, it’s been eleven years since.

In other words, a decade has gone by without a single new tune from the band.

That’s 4, 015 days that you could have spent playing spinning Urban Hymns, with 96, 360 hours to loop “Lucky Man” or “Bittersweet Symphony” over and over and over again. Or, you could have just watched that encapsulating Ryan Phillipe movie, Cruel Intentions. (Sadly, that’s what comes to my mind when I think of Richard Ashcroft’s hip band) Then again, you could have just moved on.

Yesterday, The Verve released a new single, “Love is Noise.” Finally, right? It’s moody, it’s vibrant, and it’s everything you’d want in a comeback single. So, with that in mind, we can’t wait for their new fourth album, aptly titled Forth (Portishead anyone?), which is due for release August 18th (the next day for us Americans).

Until then, we’ve got the single and the… European tour.
