Beastie Boys ready new album
As reported a few months ago, the Beastie Boys have been busy working on a new studio album that could see release before the end of the year. While details remain sketchy, Adam Yauch (MCA) did recently take some time to drop a few new album nuggets, while out and about promoting his new
documentary Gunnin’ for That #1 Spot.
In the May 15th issue of Rolling Stone magazine’s “Smoking Section”, Yauch revealed that the album was 40 percent complete, adding that, “It’ll be a mix of things. We’ll play on it, and there’ll definitely be some hip-hop.”
What’s more, in a Beastie Boys newsletter sent out Thursday, June 26, Yauch shared these cryptic words:
“the time is upon us. the chickens have come home to roost. the oscilloscope time machine is all but complete, save for a couple of critical parts. indeed we are but 3 lithium crystals short of folding space and time…”
Still no word on a release date or what exact material will be featured on the the band’s eighth studio album. Do remember, the New York natives have discussed plans on everything from a remix of The Mix-Up to another all instrumental effort.
Whatever the case, the fact that we’ll be treated to another new Beastie Boys album quite soon is so exciting that I feel the 4th dimension starting to tremor already.
