Rage Against the Machine have side-projects galore

Weren’t Rage Against the Machine supposed to be working on a new album?

Unless it’s already done, the California natives don’t appear all too busy with the follow up to 2000’s Renegades . In fact, just this week, frontman Zack de la Rocha and guitarist Tom Morello both announced new details regarding their respective side-projects.

Morello is gearing up for the return of his Nightwatchman solo work with the upcoming release of his second album, The Fabled City. Due out September 30, the Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam) produced album promises to capture the spirit of the guitarists live shows in addition to featuring a number of guest collaborations from the likes of Serj Tankian and Shooter Jennings.

"There is a much more rocking quality to this record, solos and riffs, mixed with darker acoustic songs."

Zach de la Rocha is also looking forward to a side-project, though unlike his bandmate, One Day As A Lion will be a two-man collaboration. Consisting of de la Rocha and former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore, the recent signees of ANTI- will release their eponymous debut EP on July 22nd.

“The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.”

One Day As A Lion EP Tracklist:
01. Wild International
02. Ocean View
03. Last Letter
04. If You Fear Dying
05. One Day As A Lion
