Who said anything about fireworks?
First and foremost, a happy Fourth of July to all of our United States readers. What are you doing to celebrate tonight’s festivities? Of course, you have the traditional options - fireworks, grill out, etc.
But tonight also will offer a variety of rather compelling music related activities. For one, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band will look to please fans with more EP worthy moments during their concert tonight in Göteborg, Sweden. The catch? A portion of the performance will be broadcast live on Sirius Satelitte Radio.
SIRIUS will broadcast exclusively from a concert performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band live in Göteborg, Sweden. The rare broadcast event will air on E Street Radio Ch. 10 on July 4, with coverage beginning at 1 pm ET. SIRIUS host and Bruce Springsteen biographer Dave Marsh will lead the special broadcast of a live July 4th-themed show, segueing into the concert in Sweden to bring listeners selected live songs.
Sonic Youth will also be broadcasting their Fourth of July show. WMFU will be streaming the band’s free performance from New York City’s Battery Park live online.
Speaking of free shows, De Novo Dahl are playing one in Lexington, Kentucky, while Taproot and Everlast will be hitting up Las Vegas.
This holiday weekend will also play host to a number of U.S. music festivals. From Summerfest and Rothbury (and its potential Phish reunion?) to 80/35 and High Sierra, there will be no absence of major music events over the next couple days. What’s more, Kanye, Chris Brown, LL Cool J, and Chris Rock will head New Orleans’ Essence Music Festival, while Phil Lesh and Umphrey’s McGee will hold down Sioux City’s Saturday in the Park. Oh yeah, and then there is Freedom Fest.
However you do end up celebrating, make it a good one and enjoy your weekend!
