Metallica issue date & box set?

Metallica issue date & box set?

This news comes a bit late, but it’s slowly making it’s rounds, thanks to Blabbermouth.net. Seems as if every day we receive more and more information on Metallica’s highly anticipated follow up to 2003’s highly disappointing, St. Anger. This week, some Finnish store called Record X is reporting that Metallica will be putting together quite the lil’ package for its fans, all for the new record, Death Magnetic. Oh yeah, they also state the album’s due out September 17th. How about that to ring in the autumn season, eh?

Hell, I’m not even a Metallica fan and I’m interested in this baby…

* 1 “Death Magnetic” CD (exclusive digipack version)
* 1 CD with demos of songs from “Death Magnetic” (10 songs)
* 1 “Making of ‘Death Magnetic’” DVD featuring never-before-seen material
* 1 exclusive “Death Magnetic” t-shirt (only available with the box set)
* 1 “Death Magnetic” flag
* A set of “Death Magnetic” guitar picks
* 1 fold-out, coffin box, poster with pictures of the band members
* 1 USB memory stick with METALLICA logo (enables digital download of “Death Magnetic” album)

[Blabbermouth]

I can already hear our writer Jay Ziegler salivating over this. One has to wonder though, what the hell is the point of a USB drive that only links to download files? Why not just include the MP3s on the USB drive? Eh, I’m such a nitpicker.

Anyways, it’s still considered a rumor, but I wouldn’t take this with too much salt.
