MGMT details second album

Hot off the success of their debut album, Oracular Spectacular, MGMT has revealed details pertaining to its followup. In a recent interview with BBC 6Music, the Brooklyn duo discussed their intentions for the sophomore effort.

Says [Andrew] VanWyngarden: “We’ve been longing to get in the studio for a while because we got out of it recording our last album about a year ago. We’re definitely ready to start working on some new stuff. I think in January we’re gonna start recording and hopefully put an album out next summer.”

Of course, seeing the work on the album has yet to even begin, there is no release date, or even title for that matter. Premature excitement, anyone?

Regardless, as is always the case, it certainly will be compelling to see how the much-hyped duo avoids the same dreaded sophomore slump that has plagued so many of their contemporaries.
