Soundtrack details for BEST MOVIE EVER emerge

July 18 should be a national holiday. After all, that is the day any and every person in their right mind should be seeing the much-awaited followup to Christopher Nolan’s 2005 masterpiece, Batman Begins. Yes, folks the day is near, the release of The Dark Knight is a mere 12 days away.

12 days until the second of Nolan’s much-acclaimed Batman series graces our eyes and ears. 12 days until we watch Christian Bale return for another epic portrayal as Bruce Wayne. 12 days until we witness Heath Ledger’s Joker – a performance already earning Oscar buzz.

To say we’re excited would be an understatement.

Unfortunately, one of the negatives of being an all-music blog is the fact that we can’t really ever cover The Dark Knight, or any other movie for that matter. Well, kind of.

There’s a thing called a soundtrack, and since details for The Dark Knight’s one recently emerged, we figured that there was no better time than now to express our anticipation for the movie, and tell you about the music that will be filling your ears as you watch the film.

A collaborative effort of composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard, The Dark Knight soundtrack will hit music shelves on July 15, three days prior to the film’s release. Warner Bros. Records the record in four different configurations: a standard jewel case CD, a 2 LP set of heavy-weight 180 gram vinyl version, a special edition digipack, and a collector’s edition with special artwork to come after release.

All four editions can be purchased on the soundtrack’s official website.

  • The Dark Knight Soundtrack is great!

The new package contains 50 additional minutes of unreleased music from the movie, and 4 unreleased released remixes by The Crystal Method, Paul Van Dyk, and others, as well as a 40 page book of stills from the motion picture! A limited quantity are being made!

Honestly, not too big on soundtracks but when you hear Hans Zimmer plus the Dark Knight how could you not wanna listen

  • So I just got the soundtrack from darkknightscore.com.. it’s pretty epic.. honestly not too big on soundtracks but when you hear Hans Zimmer plus the Dark Knight how could you not wanna listen.. i’m sooo amped to see this movie.. the score is seriously dark with a lot of eeriness to it.. fans of the first movie/soundtrack will be happy to know that Zimmer has retained a lot of the moods from Batman Begins.. the names of the tracks pretty much indicate what moods and scenes they accompany so i’m sure i’ll enjoy it a lot more after i see the movie (thursday midnight!!!) i do recommend the special edition.. the extra artwork is amazing.. seriously don’t miss out

  • Yes, Two Face won’t show up till the end of the movie. I think the tracklist is just coincidental.

  • probably not. harvey dent is known around the city as that nick-name long before he transforms into the actual villian two-face. this movie is suppose to focus on dent and batman trying to take down the joker, until dent is kidnapped and becomes two face. the third and final movie will probably focus on batman’s struggle with that villian.

  • have you guys noticed two-face is track 3? does that mean that maybe harvey dent turns early? INTRUIGE.

  • Correction: How great is it that this movie comes out on opening day of Pitchfork Music Festival?

Catch a matinee and then over to Union Park for Mission of Burma, Sebadoh, and Public Enemy. And that’s just the START of the weekend.
