Deerhunter, Jay Reatard get together for single, seperate for tour
The last we heard from Deerhunter, the Bradford Cox fronted band was busy playing with mixtapes and gearing up for the release of their third studio album, Microcastles. A month and a half later, the album is still not “officially” out (a physical release is due out sometime in October), but the Atlanta natives do have some new sounds to hold you over until then.
Deerhunter has joined forces with Jay Reatard for single #4 of the punk rocker series of limited-edition 7″s. The A-side consists of Jay covering Deerhunter’s “Flourescent Grey,” while the B-side is Deerhunter covering Jay’s “Oh, It’s Such A Shame.” Pre-orders for the split begin July 14th.
And in case you were wondering, all six of the 7″ singles will released in the fall as part of a LP/CD.
In addition to the upcoming release, both Jay and Bradley have a number of upcoming shows, though only one, this year’s edition of Pitchfork, will see both men at the same venue.
