Phish reunite… sort of?
A couple of weeks ago, we talked about the possibilities of a Phish reunion. I hinted at Bonnaroo, while you CoS readers were all screaming, “Rothbury!
Rothbury!” Well, most of you were right. This past weekend, out in Michigan country, Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon joined former drummer Jon Fishman on stage, amongst thousands of salivating, overexcited hippies. It might have only been three-fourth’s of the regular line up, but it surely didn’t go unnoticed.
Sunday had featured performances by acts such as Gov’t Mule and John Mayer, but it was a pair of collaborations between ex-Phish members that had fans chattering. Mike Gordon and Trey Anastasio linked up for a series of songs during each of their respective sets, and the pair were joined by Jon Fishman for a cover of the Beatles’ “She Said She Said.”
Already, fans on the Inforoo board are flaring up about this, overexcited and optimistic about 2009 rumblings for the jam band quartet. Maybe a reunion tour? An appearance at Bonnaroo? A new album? Could this all be a possibility? Absolutely. Will it happen? Who the hell knows! But considering the business we’re in, we love to speculate, don’t we?
If anything, it made Rothbury something to talk about.
