Perry adds his own stage to Lollapalooza, festival to Vegas?

Lollapalooza made a fairly significant, but rather unnoticed addition to its lineup this week. In fact, unless you took a ride all the way to the bottom of scroll-friendly lineup page, then you probably aren’t aware that Perry Farrell has booked a collection of DJs for this year’s festival.

Via the lineup page…

Upon further examination, it appears these mysterious “Special DJ Sets” will take place on the newly added, and appropriately titled, “Perry’s Stage” over the course of the three-day weekend. While that’s about all we can garner from this point, the new stage certainly adds to the list of Lollapalooza conflicts. After all, who doesn’t want to see That 70’s Show’s Danny Masterdon spin? If only, he wasn’t performing opposite Wilco…

Perry’s DJ Stage: Perry Farrell & Special Guests, Flosstradamus, VHS or Beta (DJ Set), Delvin & Darko, Does It Offend You, Yeah? (DJ Set), DJ AM, DJ Momjeans a.k.a. Danny Materson, Frankie Chan, Millions $ Mano, DJ Mel, James Curd, E-Six & Roan, Dash Mihox, Zebo, Small Town DJs, The Glamour, Willy Joy, Dani Deahl

Schedule: Friday + Saturday + Sunday

By the way, am I the only one thinking this is Perry’s response to the Lollaboarder’s request for a massive Mindfield stage?

But “Perry’s Stage” isn’t the only piece of news relating to the Jane’s Addicition frontman/Lollapalooza founder. According to Doug Elfman at the Review Journal, Farrell’s next project may be much larger than a new stage…

From what I hear about Vegoose, if I were to plan it, I wouldn’t plan it that way. That’s all I’m saying. But maybe one day, it’ll be great if I got to go in there and do something great with an installation in Vegas.”

Farrell says a Vegas music festival would succeed if it did what Lollapalooza and Coachella do right: create a finely organized scene for “the youth, and the intelligentsia and the alternatives.”

So is a Vegapalooza next? Nothing is officially, but it certainly seems Perry has entertained the idea. But then again, he’s entertained a lot of different ideas recently, everything from a new Philadelphia festival to a Jane’s Addiction reunion, and as of now, nothing has really come about…

  1. Any people from Philly? The reason why I ask is most things that Perry promised or speculated have come true. He continues Perry’s stage. He got Jane’s Addiction back together (free show in Vegas wasn’t half bad). Lastly, he comes to vegas a lot. He parties here and does DJ sets. He is even celebrating his birthday with A LOT of celebrities and artists (some special event gig or something like that). The idea of a Vegapalooza (nice job Alex) taking over Vegoose… Makes me euphoric. Hey it’s only a rumor… but a damn good one and very probable

  2. My bad, wrong DJ. DJ AM is not worth getting excited about

  3. My 2 cents, DJ AM is really good(I wonder who he is supporting at Lola, I saw him DJ for MC Paul Barman once) and Delvin and Darko are a lot of fun also.

  4. Las Vegas was a great place for a festival when Vegoose was happening, but until they drop hotel rates, there is no way it will be successful. The other problem, and I apologize to those readers in Nevada, but there is nothing in that state but Vegas and Reno (Taho is only a seasonal community). All the other major festivals have the local population support to make it happen, or if they don’t they offer camping. Great idea, but Vegas just isn’t worth it.

  5. I’ll be at the DJ AM and Franki Chan sets.
P.S. According to the schedule it’s Perry Farrel and a Special Guest (not guests). I only bring this up because I think I have a good idea who that guest may be, because he is happening to do a completely random DJ set at a club in chicago that very night…

    Hint: He’s Bald. haha
