Since when was Prince in Death Cab for Cutie?
Remember that mysterious Billboard.com posting back in May that included Prince and Rage Against the Machine on the lineup for this year’s edition of Bumbershoot?
While it certainly seemed unrealistic, at the time, the rumored inclusion of Prince and Rage Against the Machine to an already announced lineup featuring Beck, Stone Temple Pilots, and T.I. caused many of us, including yours truly, to get a little caught up in the “what ifs?”
Well some three months later, Bumbershoot has announced the final acts included in its 2008 lineup, and as it turns out, Prince and Rage Against the Machine are no where to be found. Death Cab for Cutie is now on the lineup, as is Superchunk and Tapes ‘n Tapes, allowing an already stellar lineup to get even better.
New Additions: Death Cab For Cutie, Superchunk, Tapes ‘n Tapes, The Weakerthans, Two Gallants, SweetWater, Cheb I Sabbah & 1002 Nights (feat. Riffat Sultana), Vicci Martinez, Black Eyes and Neckties, Tiptons Sax Quartet & Drums, Mono in VCF, Thee Emergency, Vince Mira, ManooghiHi, Feral Children, Speaker Speaker, The Physics, The Tripwires, Sage, Grieves, Choklate, Das Vibenbass, The Valley, Velella Velella, The Maldives, SHIM, Shane Tutmarc & The Traveling Mercies, Mariee Sioux, The Round (feat. Damien Jurado, Jen Wood, Buddy Wakefield and others), The Lonely H, Nick Vigarino, The Staxx Brothers, Lushy, New Faces, School of Rock: Northwest All-Stars, Jazz Northwest: WSU Faculty Ensemble

So was the Prince/Rage inclusion on Billboard.com just a misprint? Probably, but we’ll let the conspiracy theorists handle it from here.
