As part of their upcoming convention in Denver, Colorado, the Democratic National Convention Committee is putting together a star studded package of celebrities to entertain the masses in between speeches and all that other important, but not as fun technical stuff.
Yet ironically, it doesn’t appear the folks behind this year’s entertainment put much value in Barack Obama’s iPod when choosing the musical selections. According to The Washington Post, Kanye West, N.E.R.D., and Wycleaf Jean are among the names tapped to kick off this year’s convention on August 25 at the Pepsi Center.
We hear that the One Campaign, in conjunction with the Recording Industry Association of America, is close to sealing a deal with Kanye West to perform at the event…
MTV and Rock the Vote are also expected to host a party headlining N.E.R.D. and Wyclef Jean.
As for the rumored Rage Against the Machine performance? Little is known whether it will go down or not, but if it’s anything like the band’s concert during the 2000 edition of the convention, you’ll know about it soon enough.
Other celebrities expected to attend the convention include: Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Forrest Whitaker, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Cheryl Hines, and Ed Norton Jr.
