Morello, Earle, and friends to play for Republicans
Yesterday, we posted details of Democrats plans to entertain attendees of their upcoming convention with the likes of Kanye West, N.E.R.D., and Wycleaf Jean. The Republican National Convention, set to go down between September 1 and 4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, will also be greeted by the sites and sounds of music, only as of now, it doesn’t promise to be all that friendly.
According to the Star-Tribune, Steve Earle and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello will perform a Labor Day protest concert in neighboring St. Paul during the convention. The performance will be part of the Employees International Union’s Labor Day Festival, a three-day event that will also include a speech from former Presidential candidate John Edwards.
But want to know the juiciest part of the whole thing? Earle and Morello will be joined by some “friends”…
A press release from Earle’s and Morello’s management office also hints that “friends” might join them. Morello recently recorded a song with Bruce Springsteen and helmed the Justice Tour this spring, joined by members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and System of a Down.
Of course, the newspaper article is just mentioning past collaborators, but imagine the scene if Springsteen or the Chili Peppers do decide to join in on the fun?
And we aren’t even mentoning the rumors pertaining to Morello’s current band…
