Blitzen Trapper ready Furr
After a rather hectic 2007 which saw the self-release of Wild Mountain Nation and some pretty extensive touring, Blitzen Trapper certainly earned themselves some down time. However, after signing with Sub Pop, the Portland natives instead spent much of the last few month hitting up a few high-profile events and recording their fourth studio album.

Entitled Furr, the band’s first full length release on Sub Pop, will hit music stores on September 23. As alluded in the artwork, like most of the band’s most recent material, the new album will feature a rough, worn sound…
One key to this new material was an ancient, warped piano that appeared in the hallway one day at Sally Mack’s School of Dance and which was subsequently muscled into the group’s studio. Though out of tune and missing teeth, this piano became the warhorse upon which [Eric] Earley wrote and recorded much of Furr. The beast has gone away to the landfill now, but you can still hear the clacking and clattering of its rickety skeleton in songs like “Not Your Lover” and “Echo.”
In addition to the upcoming release, Blitzen Trapper has a number of upcoming tour dates, which include a number of appearances at some of summer’s latter music festivals.
