After much waiting, Metallica unveils Death Magnetic’s art

It feels like an eternity since we heard the first details of Metallica’s long-awaited ninth studio album. Since then, fans have watched the band debate whether to follow Reznor, receive letters from Grohl, post song clips online, play Bonnaroo, come up with a title, sort of issue a release date, and finally best of all, earn a coveted spot on Guitar Hero III. Oh the glories of an album release!

As the expected September release date approaches, Metallica has unveiled the next stop in Death Magnetic’s never-ending journey - the release of the album’s cover art.

Hey, at least its better than that other potential option

In addition to the art, Metallica will also be selling the album in actual coffins thanks to a deluxe, coffin box package edition, featuring one CD featuring the album, another containing demos, a behind-the-scenes DVD, an exclusive T-shirt, a flag, a collection of guitar picks, codes for a special live download and a poster, will be available via the band’s official website.

I wonder what’s next?
