Lolla Live: Friday Afternoon
We’re half way through the first day of Lollapalooza 2008. Festival-goers have been streaming in since early this morning under a hot Chicago sun. In fact, lines to get in are still spanning multiple blocks.
Anyway, on to the festival. Holy Fuck kicked things off with some electro-friendly beats under a pre-made Radiohead stage setup. Though the Radiohead fans who have been camping at the AT&T Stage since early morning, clad in eco-friendly black shirts, didn’t seem all too enthused, which makes you wonder if they even know about the Canadian native’s remix of “Nude”.
Black Lips played opposite Holy Fuck on the Bud Light stage. Their rougher than average sound seeemed tame, but didn’t offer an early morning hangover. Be sure to stick around for our interview with the band. It will be up later tonight.
Manchester Orchestra pleased a sizeable audience at the Citi Stage, while indie rockers Yeasayer seemed confident on a stage typically saved for larger bands.
Next up is Gogol Bordello, followed by Mates of State, The Raconteurs, and Stephen Malkmus. Oh yeah, and some band from Britain.
That’s it for now. See you tonight…
If you’re at home, you can check out Lolla live via the AT&T Blueroom.
