LCD Soundsystem members form LCD side-project
The last we heard from LCD Soundsystem, the James Murphy led electro-dance group was busy touring and releasing 7″’s with Arcade Fire. With Win Butler and crew now on hiatus and most of the other LCD members doing the same, Murphy now has a bit of extra free time on his hand.
But instead of taking a much deserved break, Murphy will be using the coming months, with the help of LCD Soundsystem drummer Pat Mahony, to educate the country about the fun of disco music. Under the title Special Disco Version, the duo, hot off a few warm up shows, have announced plans for a full-length North America tour, to show, as Murphy puts it, that disco “is real liberation music for people who know where to go.”
‘With SDV, I can keep experimenting with remixes that we’re working on, I can keep playing new stuff, and I can keep finding old records,’ says Murphy.
