The Police’s final show, new DVD/CD set
Tomorrow, people will be angry. Some might cry, but others will be angry. Once The Police exit stage left of Madison Square Garden, it will all be over. There will be no encore, because this is the essentially thee “encore” of what has been a reunited, nostalgic one off.
No, after August 7th, fans of the blonde trio from the UK will be relegated to new Sting releases (Oh boy!) and god knows what from drummer Stewart Copeland (Wall Street II soundtrack?) and guitarist Andy Summers (retirement?). The good news is that Best Buy.com will make it possible for you to witness the big finale. And by “big finale”, I mean the encore.
You didn’t think they’d let you in for the whole thing, did you?
This all comes in support of a brand new DVD and CD set, The Police Certifiable, to be released October 7th. Details are sketchy, but the live performance will be from their tour stop in Buenos Aires, which was filmed and broadcasted both on TV and online. If you didn’t catch it last Winter, it is a killer set; however, let’s hope they catch some footage from this year (”Bring on the Night” anyone?) and earlier last year (the disappearing “Spirits in a Material World”). So for those that were expecting a live release… or something… this will be your best bet.
The coolest part is that BestBuy.com is offering the set in three different formats, including a vinyl release, which unfortunately doesn’t include the DVD. For the time being, brush up on the band’s history by viewing the BestBuy.com site, which is broadcasting some footage to hype tomorrow up.
Oh, the choices! Oh, the finale!

The Unplugged performance got canned, unfortunately. Tomorrow is it. That’s unfortunate, huh?
Any idea what happened to the Unplugged episode they filmed in Miami last summer? Will that air after the tour has finished, or did it fall by the wayside so mtv/vh1 could air another crappy reality show instead?
