Wolfmother in trouble?

Wolfmother in trouble?

Canadians might have the upper hand here. Those that were able to catch Wolfmother at Pemberton two weeks ago were in luck, as it seems the band is splitting up. But that’s not to say Wolfmother won’t continue, it just won’t be with bassist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett. In a cryptic posting this morning, the band’s official site had this to say:

Grammy Award winning rock band Wolfmother has announced the resignation of bass/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett effective immediately. Singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale now plans to find other musicians over coming months and to then begin making a new Wolfmother album.

What’s the reason for the split? The usual response, they wanna do something else. The site elaborates:

Following [The Grass Festival in Australia] Chris Ross decided to announce that he was leaving the band due to irreconcilable personal and musical differences. Myles Heskett has also decided to leave the band rather than continuing as part of a changed lineup. The pair has been working together on songs for some time and they plan to focus their energies on that new project in the future.

Well, this ruins Stockdale’s weekend, huh? Being somewhat optimistic, finding two replacements won’t be a problem, and as long as that vampire-like scowl still appears under that hefty afro of his, Stockdale should be able to continue selling the Wolfmother image. On the other hand, it’ll take some crazy try outs to find a supporting cast that can stir up the same, mega-international success his 2006 debut did.

Guess it’s time for this garage band to hit… well, the garage.
