Queens of the Stone Age returns for benefit gig
Wondering where Queens of the Stone Age have been of late? After releasing Era Vulgaris in June of 2007 and hitting up various world cities on a subsequent tour, the Josh Homme led band has been lying low, aside from an occasional appearance on MTV and SoCo sponsered event.
However, after the untimely passing of former QOTSA collaborator Natasha Shneider in July, the band will return next Saturday, August 16, with a few notable friends, for a concert benefiting the Russian born musician.
On Saturday, August 16th, at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, Queens of the Stone Age will perform a benefit concert in celebration of the life of former bandmate and friend, Natasha Shneider.
QOTSA will be accompanied by friends PJ Harvey, Jack Black + Kyle Gass, Matt Cameron, Brody Dalle, Jesse Hughes, Billy F. Gibbons, Chris Goss, and Alain Johannes, who will help them perform songs from the limits of the QOTSA catalog and beyond.
Proceeds from the event will go to defray the lingering costs associated with Natasha’s battle with cancer.
Though the concert is now sold out, the prospects of Queens of the Stone Age and PJ Harvey on the same stage is certainly intriguing. Here’s hoping for some stellar youtube videos popping up in the days following the benefit.
