Springsteen & band to play Super Bowl
Even despite the scrapped plans for a fall arena tour, when Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band perform at Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary festival at the end of the month, the Boss and his band will have played over 100 shows to for over two million screaming fans. Oh, and did we mention the concerts are still clocking in at three+ hours? Not bad for a group of musicians already into its fourth decade of live performances.
While Springsteen’s newest date won’t offer the same gripping set as any of the other 100 stops received, at least when it comes to performance time, the New Jersey native will have the opportunity to perform in front of his biggest audience ever.
Following in the footsteps of such names as the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and Prince, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band have been tapped as this year’s Super Bowl half-time entertainment. According to the New York Post, the band has been officially confirmed with Stevie Van Zandt already making after show party plans.
Rumors of a Springsteen half-time performance have been circulating for months so despite the credibility of the source as note, it’s probably a safe bet that the story is indeed accurate.
Though, Backsteets put it best in saying…
Two things we know for sure. One: Super Bowl XLIII is set for February 1, 2009, in Tampa. And two: if Clarence Clemons decides to have a wardrobe malfunction, nobody’s going to stop him.
