Lenny Kravitz dashes hopes, will not be Velvet Revolver frontman
Thanks to a report in yesterday’s edition of The Sun, rumors began to circulate that Lenny Kravitz had been tapped as the new frontman for Velvet Revolver. While the U.K. paper’s only evidence behind the story was an apparent jam session between Kravitz and the former members of Guns ‘n Roses, much of the internet took the story as true and ran with it, and understandably so. Velvet Revolver is already essentially a group of all-stars, just imagine the sounds that would be produced if the 44-year-old, New York native was at the helm.
Unfortunately, like most music stories generated by the London rags, it now appears this rumor can join all the previous “confirmations” (Royston Langdon, Sebastian Bach, Sammy Haggar, Axl?) as NOT
HAPPENING.
In a statement released by Kravtiz to Rolling Stone late last night, the legendary guitarist denied reports, stating, “I know and love the Velvet Revolver guys but there is no truth to the story about me joining their band.” He will instead continue to focus his attention on touring in support of his recently released album, It Is Time For A Love Revolution.
Perhaps Slash would be better off sticking to the solo stuff? Or what about hitting the road with Perry?
