Bloc Party’s new LP due Thursday!
It’s not really a surprise anymore when acts go the Radiohead route, but who’s really complaining? Music fans are gaining access to music faster (and easier) than ever. New to the business groove, London post-punkers Bloc Party are releasing its new LP, well, this Thursday. Maybe the lovely lads thought it necessary to celebrate my birthday, which also happens to be this Thursday, the 21st. (Take note, readers!)
Titled Intimacy, the band’s third studio release has been in the cards all summer, being worked over by producers Paul Epworth (Babyshambles, Kate Nash) and Jacknife Lee (R.E.M., U2). Last month, the UK act released their first single, “Mercury”, on BBC Radio to much applause.
Following some riotous performances at Lollapalooza and Virgin Festival, Bloc Party has been enjoying the short but sweet summer, which continues for them with appearances at Reading and Leeds. A new album just gives backbone to this celebration, and you can find the track list below.
For those interested, and there should be aplenty, Intimacy is currently available for pre-order via the band’s official website. While the digital release arrives August 21st, a physical copy can be in your hands before Halloween… which means, October 28th.
My prediction? Chinese Democracy will be the next digital surprise. That, or another NIN record.

I enjoy Bloc Party’s short song titles. They are the anti-Fall Out Boy. Let’s just hope the rest of the album is better than “Mercury”.
