The Ninties are dead how about some real Rock bands?
Shitty lineup baby!!
Mitch, you can find the lineup and lots of other info here: http://consequenceofsound.net/festival-outlook/lollapalooza/
Hello everyone, who’s on the lineup that’s huge this year?
what’s up???
averagefestie09, it’s douche!
whos the deuche below me??? anyways lolla is pretty lame this year…at least kayne is not there
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Offspring the best ever????!!!! HHHHHHHAAAAAAAA! you are an anonymous douche bag.
maynard rules the planet.
Beaties will never die.
Jane’s “jean” Addiction is the quintessential example of why LA needs an aenima.
Jane Says, with steel drums?? are you fucking kidding????
oh, great… all the STS9 glowstick wielding faggots will be in line to see Perry in feathered wings with a gay Dave Navaro ripping his ultimate guitar cheese. My “Guitar Hero” neighbor has more style than Navaro with his lame CE tattoo.
get the fuck over yourselves. then die.
lou reed peter, bjorn and john artic monkeys, kaiser chiefs, kings of leon, depeche mode, tool, beastie boys , band of horses gonna be the best!!!!!!!
lou reed???????
tool…. HERE COMES THE FLOOD!!!!!!! FUCK YES I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS FUCKIN HAPPENING!!!
I’ve heard rumors that Rage Against the Machine is playing. Is this true?
Lineup seems 2 get better since 07 then to 08, this year kinda blows cock, headliners are not pleasing me at all besides beastieboys:’( yet again its not always about the headliners, so still not sure yet:/
when the hell are we getting the fu*king lineup?
no they played last year
IS RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE PLAYING???
i saw someone near the top wishing the talking heads would play. keep dreaming…they’re one of my absolute favorites. but it’ll be a cold day in hell before david byrne gets on a stage with any of the other heads. bedouin soundclash would be nice to see. maybe next year for the soundclash. their sxsw shows were awesome. not a big tool fan, but i can jam to them anyway. the beasties were awesome on the hello nasty tour. FUCKIN JANES!!!
Is this the place where all the mentally handicap come to talk about lolla? All these lineup questions and predictions have already been answered. And all the Kanye West, RATM, and Phish predictions are just not going to happen.
All i can say is that the Beastie Boys are the only headliner that im truly looking forward to. I dont like the fact that Perry Farrel put himself down as a headliner, i believe janes addiction to be a well respected band, but i can not see them puttin on a good live show. I probably only know 2 of their songs. I dont know if thats because they suck, or maybe i need to listen to more music? Who knows. Whatever the case the mid level bands better fucking rock the place because i guarentee you that most the headliners wont. HEADLINERS Tool, Kings of Leon, The Killers, Depeche Mode, Janes Addiction, Beastie Boys
Janes addiction is doing a bit with Nine inch nails not sure if they’re playing at lollapalooza though but tool is going to be and that is going to be awesome.
yeah there is no way they could top the 2008 lineup, this year
just give me the damn lineup already
ratm???????
bulshit mgmt will play again as well as the cool kids and kanye west
a spot in the line-up wont be wasted on phish, lpus they are doing their own tour anyway.
I’ve seen Jane’s twice and each time they have put on an awesome show. Musically AND visually. Very entertaining.
Tool :]
Depeche Mode :[
Beasties :]
Killers
But really, every line-up is going to be a disappointment anyway because you will never be able to top Lolla’08. For Real. Also you can generally get SOME idea of who might play Lolla by checking out who plays at Coachella, which gets posted much farther ahead of time. Speaking of which…atleast Paul McCartney isn’t “rockin” @ Lolla.
so yeah the last 2 spots for headliners are supposed to be Tool and the killers:/
Yea that would be a great idea if Phish didn’t suck balls
All they need is to get Phish to play and they will sell the entire concert out. Plus they just got back together and are on tour so its a possibility.
P.S. For the kid who came over the barricade during the Rage show with a compound fracture (ankle completely out his god damn leg).. I hope you’re doing well man. You were a tough one!
The retard who said FUCK Jane’s Addiction.. ummm Perry Ferrel… the LEAD SINGER.. he runs Lolla. Do your homework son.
I worked security last year. Being behind the barricades of Rage was the high light of my life, HANDS DOWN. The feeling of 80,000 people in front of you and banging metal warfare behind you.. a feeling that can not be completely described. Unreal.
I would like to see Stone Temple Pilots, Deftones, Ill Nino… more I’m not thinking of. I’ve already got my hotel and trip planned out.
S3 SECURITY 2009 HERE WE COME!
yeah that lack of variety in there shows is the only reason i don’t really like them anymore. when you spend as much money as i do or any of us for that matter you should see something different it’s not like going to see britney spears or something where everything is choreographed and everything has to be in a particular place for the show to keep moving. i’m ok with danny hitting the wrong cymbal or justin playing the wrong note that’s really what makes rock shows fun is the element of surprise.
you’ll propbably like jane’s when you see them the time i saw them they only played for an hour so hopefully they play longer in chicago but they were a lot of fun to watch.
Yea I hear you on that Anonymous. The last Tool tour was the same old setlist over and over :/ I’m hoping that since this time around they are between albums they’ll break out some of their old $hit! Bring on H and Flood! How about the extended version of Push?!? Saw that in Memphis in 2001… bada$$!
I ahve never seen Jane’s Addiction but I have heard from my buddies that they rock live!
well i’m not going i just like reading the rumors. had i been going i would watch the beastie boys, atmosphere, the delta spirit, kings of leon and janes addiction out of the bands that we know are gonna be there. for rumored bands i would love to see the eagles of death metal again. i just don’t like tool. i’ve said it a hundred times here they play the same lethargic set everytime i have seen them. i don’t wanna see them play the pot, lateralus and 46&2 everytime. i wanna here songs like jerk off and prison sex but they refuse to play them as maynard has said before if you wanna hear those songs listen to the records. i just think that is unfair to old fans.
When are they going to post the official set list up? Man if Tool really is coming that would be great! They need to get Muse up in there to! Now that would be amazing!
Anonymous what are you smoking? Who are you excited to see?
i’m not crazy. tool sucks. they play boring shows. good for you fags as you so elequently put it that you will enjoy them. you kids are far to sensitive.
I actually broke my elbow during the RATM mosh pit, and I will do it again and again…
Beastie Boys better live than Tool? Are you f-in crazy?
God that would be great to see Tool again! I have seen them many times and they are great live. The 10,000 days tour wasnt as good as the old school shows I saw during the Aenima tour, but hell, they are by far the best rock band of our time hands down. If you are one of these fags that thinks Tool is boring live you should just save your money for the Hanna Montana show… I’m sure it’s right up your alley
Tool IS boring live. Depeche Mode, Beastie Boys, and Janes are all f’n awesome. I love that they are hopefully pulling from the original Lollapaloozas. I went to the first 4. I actually slept out for tickets. Do any of you remember when you had to sleep on the sidewalk over night for decent tickets, or sometimes to get tickets at all?! Kings of Leon would be great, QOTSA, Sigur Ros, Ween (were GREAT live), Outkast, Dinosuar Jr. would be great (since they had to leave the stage when I saw them at Lolla and the tornado hit), Primus, Foo Fighters, Digable Planets, White Stripes, Scissor Sisters, Supersuckers, Muse… I could go on and on
FUCK. that is all
honestly not that stoked 4 this years lineup besides beastie boys, if justice came that would top lolla this year, fuck depeche mode and janes addiction, they good but they old as tits, modern new class top knotch shit is what we need! and thats what justice can provide us:)
tool is coming… thats all that matters
POT IS ALL WE NEED.
So there is no lineup on the Lolla site…so look for something to happen soon.
JUSTICE THATS ALL WE NEED
Beasties make it all worth while!! Hell Yeah!!
well that’s like your opinion man but the beastie boys but on one of the best shows i have ever seen, kings of leon are good not great, jane’s addiction doesn’t play very long sets but certainly entertaining and i can’t speak for the depeche mode.
These headliners suck my ball sack. I probably heard it best as we were too spoiled last year. Hopefully the other 2 headliners which perry farrel had not mentioned will make up for the shitty 4 that we know about otherwise, one might as well listen to q101 for half an hour as doing so would give you the same experience as showing up for the 4 headliners that we know about right now as all them suck ass live and definitely not worth the money.
Aesop Rock?
please tell me beastie boys will be there this year
Gecko………..your ridiculous.
I would pay double what the 3 day pass for lollapaloza just to see Tenacious D. I would believe in a god if they played.
I definetly think that the Killers should be there, Queens of the Stone Age would be sweet. Pearl Jam would be epic. too bad nine inch nails will be out of the country at that time.
I’m going to Bonnaroo….its final.
No!….these headliners suck!
i read in the chicago tribune that depeche mode, kings of leon, beastie boys and jane’s addiction are confirmed.
http://93x.com/article.asp?id=1205496&SBID=4444
It would be awesome if the Boss, Bowie or Tom Petty would play…or better yet, all three.
Nothing could ever top 2007, when Pearl Jam headlined. Fireworks in the background while Eddie belted out the lyrics of Given to Fly was priceless!!!
no i have given tool plenty of chances i think lateralus and 10,000 days are horrible albums. i do like opiate, undertow, aenima and salival with opiate being my favorite. i think jerk off and third eye are great songs however watching them live is just lethargic and boring especially since they don’t particularly vary their set lists at all. you guys can love them all you want that’s more room for you at a show with me not there. no need to call some one a fag or think i haven’t listened to the band i wouldn’t say anything sucks that i haven’t fully given the opportunity. you guys are touchy as hell about your own tastes in music
wow…this kid probably hasnt sat down and gave Tool a chance. Probably just heard Tool’s overheard singles.
wow that really hurt my feelings being called a fag on a message board and still doesn’t change the fact that tool sucks. try again next time
Yea douche.. Tool is one of the best live bands you will ever fucking see. Fag.
i’ve seen them seen them 4 times that was enough of a chance for me
I’ve seen Tool live twice, and they are definitely not boring. People think that just because a song is longer than 6 minutes that it’s too long or too boring. Every time I listen to Tool the songs only seem half as long as they really are becasue there is so much going on, tempo changes etc… People really should give them a chance before they start dissing them.
i would rather watch ralph wiggum singing chuck berry at the springfield elementary talent show than watch tool that band is so boring
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Wow vaust… Just wow… I’m sorry your interpretation of good music is so skewed. Go listen to your Nickelback and Buckcherry.
If you like tool, you’re a tool. Terrible band.
If you think Tool is a terrible live show then you obviously suck dick. Only faggots would like that face melting show. Dumbass
Tool > Alice in chains
im hoping for faith no more and alice in chains…..new AIC album this summer, faith no more reuniting for some shows in europe…..bring it!
add primus and we are set baby! and, how about some HELMET!
janes and the pumpkins seem like natural fits, but they wouldnt trigger me to buy a ticket.
ps…tool is great, but they suck live, bigtime.
NO!
Depeche Mode headlining this fucking all lame fuck thing? Please say NO!
Depeche Mode…headlining? Please fucking wake me up!~
Primus, Ween, QOTSA. If you diss Primus and Ween you’ve obviously never heard their music. Also…if Lil Wayne is there that could be very detrimental to Lolla as a whole. Wayne is garbage, and if there should be a hip hop act it should be OutKast, or even better - Wu Tang! But that won’t happen…
artic monkeys={no thank you}
Arctic Monkeys????
I think the tour you are looking for is Warped Tour.
no way in hell i want daft punk back here again…they blow!!!
they need the Offspring, best band ever, they are suppose to have a US tour this summer anyway….
rise against would be cool too, or maybe Pennywise
Incubus is on hiatus, so they out. 311 is coming out with a new album, but they won’t headline, they’ll do a summer unity tour like always, probably playing Northerly island again. No Coldplay (thank God), Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Kanye, RHCP. None of them would play again so soon. Depeche Mode, The Killers, Tool will all headline. NIN and Janes Addiction are playing Sasquatch and are going to tour together, so they will be there for sure. As far as the hip-hop headliner I would say Beastie Boys most likely, cause they fir the lolla vibe pretty well. Lil’ Wayne maybe. Jay-Z doubtful. You gotta consider past lineups and the general feel of the festival. There are always surprises, but nothing totally out of the blue (GNR, Led Zeppelin, Bruce Springstein) those just don’t fit. The best part is getting close to shows by the up and comers/newbies because they tend to give kickass performances for their fans. I’d love to see TVOTR, they rocked at the Riviera, KOL was sick on halloween at the Aragon. Franz Ferdinand and Yeah Yeah Yeahs would be great too. One of those four will fill the Raconteurs spot before the end of the last night. Girltalk, Chromeo, MGMT, Cut Copy, Animal Collective, Fleet Foxes, No Age, Pepper, Rancid, Rise Against, Kaiser Chiefs (confirmed), and Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, Q-Tip, Slightly Stoopid, Santogold,Kid Cudi, The Knux, Crystal Castles, The Faint are all specualtion, but they’re my faves.
The Mars Volta
Incubus
Animal Collective
TV on the Radio
And if TMV played on Sunday it would be all the more awesome as it’s my birthday!
:D
yo get kid color, girl talk, flosstradamus, cool kids, lil wayne, daft punk
Oh yeah, and last year the line-up was announced on April 4th or 8th or something, so all y’all bitches still have a while to wait. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
1. I doubt 311 and/or Snoop Dogg will be there because they came last year and had their own tour together (which was a fantastic show by the way).
2. I think that Deftones, Tool, and Jane’s Addiction should be headliners. That would definitely be a rockin’ show (and the ignorant fool up top who said “jean’s addiction sucks” clearly must not know that Lollapalooza exists because of Jane’s Addiction. Fuckin idiot. You suck.)
3. I think a collaboration of people from Gorillaz should hook up and perform too. That would be extra awesome. Along with some RHCP, Incubus, Primus, Queens of The Stone Age, Kings of Leon, Shiny Toy Guns, The White Stripes, Outkast, and Lily Allen would be worhty of a 3 day line-up. I would go all 3 days for all them. Damn, if only I were incharge of picking the line-up for Lolla. What do you have to do to get that job?
WOW!!!!! Its “Janes Addiction” FUCKTARD!!
Jake,
…..I agree with all.
I just have to say, I really hope the person who suggested Bon Jovi for a headliner is kidding because that would be the equivalent of dropping trow, spreading your cheecks and taking a massive crap on all that is good in music. A few other thoughts, 1) Dont diss on Primus or Ween, Les is closer to being god than any of your imaginary friends. 2) It would be nice to see a continuation in the diversity of music they have provided at the festival, maybe with the exception of Dirks Bently. 3) THE OCTOPUS PROJECT, RATATAT, RODRIGO Y GABRIELA, TV ON THE RADIO!, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, BEAR V SHARK, THE MARS VOLTA (even though they tend to piss off the audience),BECK, MINUS THE BEAR, MY MORNING JACKET, OUTKAST, LUPE FIASCO, THE SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE, UMPHREYS MCGEE, THE BLOW, BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE AND TED LEO AND THE PHARMACISTS….I would die and be ok with it.
Good lineup! I will do some homework on these! 311 would not be good.
DEPECHE MODE, RADIOHEAD, SIGUR ROS, JUSTICE, NIN, DAFT PUNK, ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, INTERPOL, COVENANT, UNKLE
When are we going to know the lineup for 2009????
I really can’t waiiiiiiit !
JUSTICE for sure, that’d be awesome. Blink 182 i’d like, but i’d want them to play the first night. death cab for cutie would be awesome (they’ll definitely be asked to play/considered), cold play, girl talk, everyone here is so mistaken…daft punk might not even tour ever again…i love rap but i much prefer rock bands/dance bands at lolla, outkast would be unbelievable though, ideally i’d want blink 182, death cab, justice, and outkast, john butler trio was incredible last year…they didnt have too big of an audience though
I would really like to see the Deftones. I think it would be sweet to see the Deftones in a Lollapalooza. I heard that somebody in the Deftones group got into a car accident. Is he ok? And are they still playing?
holly crap….i hope 311 wont be there….
“yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh,…………..not a fan….not a fan………” –Peter Griffin
oh and btw. having tool as a headliner would blow because they blow. all their shit sounds the same. Primus will not headline either. and ween? not even. that would add up to the shittiest lolla ever. Kanye/Lupe I can see happening..snoop dogg is a definate possibility he’s been doing so many fests (rothbury, bonnarroo, etc) Umphrey’s McGee would be a nice hometown show as well but my vote still is for 311
311!!311!!311!!311!! that would be a fucking SIIICCKK headliner
The Swayback and Born in the Flood can be viewed on myspace. You’re gonna love them!
Signed, HUGE local fan.
PLEASE listen to and and consider “The Swayback” and “Born In The Flood” - both bands out of Denver. Incredibly talented!!
Well….not gonna lie but, maybe we should start looking at Bonnaroo……
http://www.bonnaroo.com/
THE VOLTA!!!!
I heard that this is all just speculation and no one here is qualified to leave an opinion about who they think is going to be on the lineup.
Thats why you need to look at the line up before hand listen to everyone and pick what you want to see I saw Mgmt front row, block party and radiohead front row, ratm I was right where I needed to be, goglo bordello and flogging molly I got right into the best moshes you just gotta know where to be when
kings of leon, vampire weekend, bloc party again i love them, and i wish radiohead would go back. and if TV on the radio were there all those on the same stage same day would be the best thing to ever happen to me i loved lollap. last year the only thing i was sad about was i was too far away for radiohead and missed brand new saw everything else i wnated o and i didnt like mg,t until 2 months after the thing so never gotsta see um
oh and kanye west sucks still
yeah number 6 at lolla is a 5:30-6:30 spot like I said
I don’t see tool getting the 8
I’ve heard for sure that Jane’s Addiction and Tool and Snoop Dogg will be a Lolla this year. From a very credible source.
if Tool plays they will headline like it or not…they were number two at Bonnaroo they will be in the top 6 at Lolla
sam your wrong
lupe fiasco is from chicago, he will rock lolla again
so will kanye
and as for wayne? doubt it hip hop is always in smaller doses and his following mixing with the following of all these other bands’ wouldnt be pretty
Ween and primus do suck, and yes that would appeal to a VERY small audience- Tool deserves a 5:30-6:30 spot but I wouldn’t say headliner
Tool was okay, nothing fantastic. Primus sucks, and I’ve never heard Ween’s material. That would only appeal to a small audience.
ok, so i just sold my left nut to guarantee that WEEN, TOOL, PRIMUS are the headliners. hope you fukkers can handle it.
DAFT PUNK was the best concert i have ever been to in my life and probably always will be. i saw RATM last year and even that didnt top daft punk. WE NEED JUSTICE.
fleet foxes and the flaming lips
kanye west was the only downfall of last years concert
I’m thinking Smashing Pumpkins will headline. Corgan is losing his fan base. This will be an added/necessary boost. However, they will not be top of the list since D’Arcy and James are missing.
I’d love to have Beck there, but he’s laying low due to starting a family.
Lollapalooza is gonna try to get someone big. They need to surpass Coachella, and can only do so with someone like Bowie?
Ok so why do you people think way too big? I saw AC/DC and Led Zeppelin as possibilities in this post. Are you serious? Why the hell would either come to Lollapalooza? When’s the last time you saw Led Zeppelin touring? Cmon, guys get realistic. And sorry, but Rage isnt coming again and neither is Radiohead
BEIRUT. BEIRUT. BEIRUT. BEIRUT BETTER FUCKING BE THERE
I think the headlineres are Tool, Jane’s Addiction, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Beastie Boys and Depeche Mode.
Thoughts…
this is such a great thread! i went to Lolla for the first time last year and absolutely FELL IN LOVE with the city, the festival, and the people! :)Hmm, as for who I hope to see play this yr (Im itching to go back!!), Ive been hearing Vampire Weekend, Kings of Leon, and Fleet Foxes being thrown around as ideas on this very thread, and i hope indeed that theyll be there! those are all FANTASTIC bands! also, I saw Justice play in my hometown of Montreal and they put on a sick show! theyve got a good vibe and got the whole French-DJs-daft-punk-esque-awesomeness thing going for them :). i cant wait for this flippin lineup! oh and to whovever commented on the fact that MGMT and Girl Talk should have been playing at bigger stages: i couldnt agree more! there were wayyy too many people for such a small space. good for crowd-surfing though..
Gone last 3 years and don’t know how they will top last year’s bill with rage and kanye and such but here’s the key ones I’m hoping for that are possible:
Kings of Leon, the Killers, Vampire Weekend, Girl Talk(fingers crossed for a repeat), Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, and Incubus which is a stretch. As for hip-hop headliner Outkast would be sweet but the best which is a total long shot is EMINEM!! New album coming out, and I know totally out of characteristic but how sick would that be if the first show he comes back is in Grant Park lolla style!!
well keep waiting man, i would guess it won’t be until late March or early April!
When the Hell is the release for the lineup!!!!
im sick of waiting!
Bruce Springsteen would be nice.
I heard Bon Jovi is the headliner this year.
Also, was anyone else dissapointed with the actual tickets this year? I waited til the end to purchase my tickets… got day2&3, because all the 3 days were sold out… and well, i was disapointed with the look of the ticket… so plain. Years before they had holograms and the chi town skyline on it… but it looked like they invested alot more money into the 3day pass holders wristbands…
i collect all my tickets so it was just kinda BLAH in my book…
to Kent;
that is a good idea, flight of the conchords would be pretty cool! never thought of something like that
incubus already did Lolla…many moons ago… doesn’t mean it wouldn’t happen tho… it’d be nice to see, they have a pretty big following.
Dave Matthews DOES have a summer tour … but he also does a lot of festivals, i.e. Farmaid, New Orleans Jazz&Blues fest, Rothbury, Mile High. So I wouldn’t count ‘em out just yet. They also have an up and coming CD, and with the passing of LeRoi not too far in the past, it might be a good idea to pick up the pace and start somewhere fresh… altho this does mean that they couldn’t play at FMBA or Toyota Park within a 3 month radius, i do believe plenty of DMB fans would be down with buying a ticket and experiencing even more music at the fest.
its always exciting to see who they’re going to suprise us with… can’t wait… this is my 4th lolla… i go to a lot of festivals, and i gotta say, we do it right
hometown pride!
Sam,
Wow….i didnt know that….its about time they had a greatest hits cd. They do have 7 albums out (i count the look alive bonus cd cause its that good). And i would agree with you on Tv on the radio, I saw them 2007 and that were amazing. I wish they kept play’n so i didnt have to leave early(Pearl Jam:( ). Also with yeah yeah yeahs, they were great too. but i wouldnt care if the killers came.
im calling yeah yeah yeahs headlining pitchfork fest
dude trev, dont worry about it. im not the biggest incubus fan and i really dont know a lot about what is going on with them right now. they would probably have a pretty good set if they played at lolla, but according to wikipedia, they plan on releasing a greatest hits album in the spring and then recording a new album late 2009 to early 2010. i would think there would be a better possibility next year.
to add on to the list, tv on the radio, yeah yeah yeahs (maybe), beastie boys (dont know how i missed this one), and the killers (headlining coachella, so its a possibility).
oh! and…
To Kent:
What you said about Ben harper is hilarious!!!!…hahah… I saw Daft Punk and im glad i did….u missed out my friend.
To Sam:
I will have to disagree with what you said on # 4 about Incubus.
I am a HUGE incubus fan as is most of my friends and I think Incubus playing at lolla could be a possibility. They wouldn’t break up now, I think their break is over about over cause they had a little tour in October and September(I freak’n didn’t know about it till it was done). This is just my opinion, Im not say’n your wrong ether. In all reality i wish i was at lolla with a nice joint/blunt listening to BSS. haha sorry had to say that.
o and fleet foxes, no age, cut copy, and silversun pickups have a pretty good chance too. ill gradulally add more bands on when i think of them.
alright, ive read this thread and there are somethings that i feel that i need to say. so, here it goes:
1. there is a big possibility that animal collective will play lolla this year. with the success off of merriweather post pavillion, they will definantly be touring for a decent amount of time and play many festivals. and their tour schedule leaves a complete hole for many festivals in the summer, so why not? and even though they just played the metro in chicago, they’ll be back.
2. THERE WILL BE NO REPEATS WITH HEADLINERS. especially for bands like raidohead and rage, there is absolutly no possibility. it would be awesome because they both had fanominal shows last year, people would freak (in a bad way). i wouldnt, be i dont count for everyone else. same for headliners in the 2007 line-up, such as muse, interpol, and daft punk. i tears my heart in half that i couldnt be there in 2007. probably the same for 2006 and 2005 headliners too.
3. i really dont think janes addiction will play lolla anytime soon. especially with the 3 day sell out last year, i know perry would keep janes aside for at least a couple more years.
4. These bands will NOT be at lolla because of the following:
- offspring- just toured, they would want to be a headliner- but c3 wouldnt book them there. its unfortunate.
- snoop dogg- i think he toured with 311 last year, he wont be back anytime soon, unless he releases a new cd, but that wont happen.
- fatboy slim- hell no. thats final.
- dave matthews- they do their summer tour each year. i really wouldnt think so. are they even releasing a new album anyway?
- jay-z- no. i really have a good reason for him, but im pretty sure there is a 100% chance he wont play.
- lupe fiasco- he’s played lolla 3 years in a row. hes done.
- white stripes- the last time they “went on tour”, they canceled pretty much all of the dates because meg was having problems. theyre not gonna play lolla until a new cd comes out.
- outkast- although it would be awesome, they have never played a outdoor festival before. it would be coachella first.
- the smiths- although this would be awesome too, it would be morrissey before them.
- talking heads- same as the smiths. theyre done.
- incubus- theyre on the verge of breaking up. they wont play anytime soon.
- rise against- just got done with a pretty big tour. besides, i really wouldnt know where they would fit in the line-up.
4. i would think these bands have a pretty big chance to play lolla: the strokes, kings of leon, animal collective, franz ferdinand, coldplay (new release in 2009??), smashing pumpkins (it all depends where they are placed), sigur ros, and they may be a couple more, but i cant think of them now.
5. WE NEED JUSTICE!!!!!!!
6. the chances of lil wayne headling at lolla are pretty low, but still possible. i really have no idea on this one.
7. when you have a chance, check out the lolla board (when it gets up and running again, since its down right now). youll see how rediculous some of these requests are and you can find out a bunch of bands that may have a chance at playing.
and cool braclets im still wearing mine
First off Rage wont come back. too many times they had to stop and ask people to step back.
this is how it should be
Animal collective
PHISH - yeah i know, but they are coming back
Yeasayer
Vampire Weekend
Modest mouse
Beastie Boys
Smashing Pumpkins
Daft Punk - I went to ben harper=worst decision of my life
GirlTAlk -bigger stage and no fucking ice man i got fucked up
Dave Matthews
Yonder Mountain String Band
John butler Trio - one of the best shows of last year
SNoop Dogg
Janes Addiction
Flight of the Concords - it would just be cool on a small stage
Explotions in the sky
Keller williams
The Flaming Lips - that was a good show in 06
The Redwalls - Chicago local
and there should be another Perrys Dj tent/stage that was the shit
I live in Chicago and treat Lolla like its another free festival, but i would definately like to see a return to some more jamish bands, also Jurassic 5 would be sweet and could definatley take the place of kanye and/or lupe in my book, also speaking of big names releasing albums Outkast could be a huge possibility for a headliner and would also be sweet, I doubt RHCP or RATM would come back even though they would be nice
Lets keep Lolla an indie festival…i say animal collective sounds good, maybe the fratellis once again (2007=they rocked the morning!!), some muse maybe, interpol, ah hell, lets just say the 2007 lineup?! that would be SIIIIIIICK!
i don’t think Jane’s Addiction is that great of a band. they have a couple of good songs but thats about it. but that being said, there wouldn’t be lallapalooza without them so their not all bad.
New acts need to be there. aka not Lupe Fiasco and RHCP
Lupe Fiasco, RHCP, need to be there
To John,
The schedule does match up. It’s true!
They end the tour in June and the next date is ATP in September.
Just gives everyone hope.

i definatley think and hope that THE KINGS OF LEON will be playing this year! that would be so awesome! they are a rockin’ band!
they should be
modest mouse
death cab for cutie
the postal service
bloc party
oasis
the stroke
the smiths
interpol
primal scream
glasvegas
smashing pumpkins
mars volta
afghan raiders
tegan and sara
supergrass
blondie
the shins
mgmt
silver sun pickups
the radio department
My friend interns for Windish booking in Chicago. Animal Collective will be playing Lollapalooza this year. Get ready
dude im down with any rock that goes there, RATM Queens of the stonage, whoever. BUT we need another Daft Punk day, we need fukin JUSTICE!!!!Have u see the crowds and videos for this mofucker, they are the shit!!!! I missed it when they came 2 CONGRESS in nye.JUSTICE!!!!JUSTICE!!!!JUSTICE!!!!
kings of leon should be there too and incubus!!
rise against should be on a main stage!!!
Foo Fighters would be cool.
FOO FIGHTERS!
lol lil wayne?… just no, tht would ruin it completely
I have heard rumors of Beastie Boys playing this year. Thats all i have really heard of.. but here is my best guess as to who will play there:
Beastie Boys (headliner)
Beck (headliner)
Lil Wayne (headliner)
My Morning Jacket (headliner)
Weezer
Lily Allen
The Streets
Ratatat
Animal Collective
Holy F*ck
Kate Nash
TV on the Radio
Deerhunter
Vampire Weekend
Fleet Foxes
Santogold
Hot Chip
Weezer? Um, no.
Kings of Leon, Muse, Pearl Jam, The Streets, RHCP, Radiohead and Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, the strokes
weeeeeeen!!!!!!!
black keys, racontuers/ white stipes
four words:
Ghostland. Observatory.
Umphreys. Mcgee.
and weezer
reel big fish do have an album coming out so maybe, what about kings of leon. I agree with daft punk for sure. id like queens of the stone age but would settle for eagles of death metal. THE STREETS would be badass same with the prodigy but these are all just dreams i suppose. (oh and if the pixies want to give it another go that’d be cool)
and DEFINITELY snoop!!!!!
RHCP, ratatat, definitely the talking heads, and some sick DJs like this year at the Perry’s tent would make Lollapalooza 09 oooooh so incredible.
Incubus, Holy F*ck, The Strokes, Girl Talk, Noah and the Whale, Fleet Foxes, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.
we need rise against this summer
incubus, No Doubt, Pearl Jam, Interpol, We Are Scientists.
That would be sweet as.
Red hot and modest mouse would be sick then add the cool kids and there is something there
The Hold Steady were on the stage adjacent to the AT&T Stage two years ago. For all practical purposes that’s a main stage. Especially when they played it at 5:30 PM. And three years in a row would be overkill for anyone.
While Girl Talk certainly could have held down a much bigger stage, my assumption is that he wanted a place where the fans could get on the stage. That wouldn’t really be an option at a main stage.
From what I hear….we don’t really want the Pumpkins to be there anyway.
Three words:
The Hold Steady.
They played in ‘06 and ‘07 on the smaller stages and I was honestly surprised they weren’t there again on a main stage this last year. With the success of Stay Positive, they would probably be a main stage act before a headliner. Dave Matthews sucks, he has no business at Lollapalooza. Girl Talk on a bigger stage in ‘09 would be sweet, there were too many people at the little side stage this year. Smashing Pumpkins have been rumored for the lineup the last two years and it still hasn’t happened so don’t get your hopes up.
DAFT PUNK DAFT PUNK DAFT PUNK!!!! 2008 SUCKED BECAUSE DAFT SET SUCH A HIGH STANDARD IN 07. BEST CONCERT EVER HANDS DOWN. CUT COPY OPENING FOR THEM WOULD BE SWEET TOO!!!!! MAYBE JUSTICE????
poeple i’d like to see perform:(note: some bands aren’t together or have stopped touring or have already been at Lolla)
MGMT
Rammstein
Fair to Midland
Velvet Acid Christ
Tool/A Perfect Circle
RAGE/One Day As a Lion
NIN
Rise Against
The Kooks would be a good show. Paolo Nutini, Raconteurs again. I am pretty sure it doesn’t matter who plays I will purchase my ticket the first day I can and have a blast.
Muse should play again along with Kings of Leon and My Morning Jacket. I know they all played in 2007, but those were great shows. Also, MGMT was great this past year. THey need to play on a main stage this year, the crowd was overflowing.
get radiohead there…again
please
I love how the anonymous dude up above decided to janes addiction jeans addiction. calm down and quit getting angry at your computer, you’ll type better. and if you are gonna say “fuck jeans (jane’s) addiction, you should probably not be coming to something that was started by the lead singer of the band that you hate so much. geez. I’ll be there
No order but these bands would be sick to see:
Flogging Molly, RATM, Girl Talk, Foo Fighters, Motion City Soundtrack, a blink 182 reunion would be amazing!!! I think Metallica, AC/DC or GNR might all be possible since they all just released new albums. And you have to have some ska in there Mighty Mighty Bosstones or Reel Big Fish
i would like to see ratm again that was stellar. Foo fighters would kick ass, Modest mouse i dig that. Led Zep would be great, but doutful. I saw queens of the stone age and RATM at alpine Valley That was insane. Also, i would like to see the raconteurs again
RHCP sucked nuts when they played last. I don’t think it can get any better than last year’s line up, RAdiohead my fav band ever, RATM was insane, chromeo, girl talk, mgmt, Explosions inthe Sky, blues traveler, i mean how can it get any better?
i hop for jane’s addiction though along with sigur ros, incubus, interpol, and LED ZEPPELIN!
they should have daft punk play in 2009 i saw them in 2007 and if they dont show im not going
dude guns and roses is so nineties.
GNR???? the original line up cant stand to be in the same room with axel. let alone play with him.
However, That would be awesome
No Doubt will reunite and be a headliner, what about Dave Matthews or Beastie Boys??
I bet you that GNR will be there with a reunion tour, that would be unreal!
Ideally, some or all of these would play at some point (and in no particular preferential order): tegan and sara, jack johnson, peter bjorn and john, incubus, modest mouse, yeah yeah yeahs, my morning jacket, ratatat, pearl jam, ted leo and the pharmacists, girl talk, RHCP, brandi carlile, greenday, metallica, foo fighters
oh, and you can’t forget animal collective either
fleet foxes as well…they will be everywhere next summer…maybe even conor oberst and the MVB as well.
they need to bring rise against this summer!
(No Order) Modest Mouse, Ratatat, Datarock, minus the bear, explosions in the sky, girl talk, spank rock, the cool kids, mgmt. Vampire weekend, holy fuck, passion pit, peter bjorn and john, rogue wave, sigur ros, ween, Animal collective.
I think it would be great if Interpol, THE TALKING HEADS, Tenacious D, Muse, Opeth, foals, Incubus, chromeo, gogol bordello, and dare I say the original GNR, would be a show noone in the world would miss
*bones
i think Daft Punk needs to play for sure, they blew it up last time and the turn out was huge. If ur talking about dance music there perfect. the light shows they do blow your mind.
Smashing Pumpkins sounds like a likely possibility, and so do the foo fighters.
one more band i’d like to see would have to be Rage Against the Machine, i dont care how many ones i broke being in a rage moshpit would be like non other.
Pumpkins would be amazing. It will not happen with the original lineup. My sister in law is Ginger Reyes. It will not happen.
Sigur Ros, while it might not quite be their scene, would be GODLY. Squarepusher or Aphex Twin, Animal Collective, Girl Talk (again, Mute Math, M83… I can only dream.
I saw RHCP (my favorite band) and NIN (in my top 5) and they were both incredible even though I could barely see Trent on stage, I would love to see either of these bands, but as you’ve prob heard RHCP is on indefinite hiatis due to Anthony having a son born, and they won’t do a two year in a row headliner. Keep Smashing Pumpkins in mind (Chicago natives) although I’d love to see the original line-up with Darcy… We have to think of 90’s legends that have released semi-recent music also, Foo Fighter could be a possibility
is RATM (Rage against the machine) soppused to be playing
no doubt will headline one of the nights
you heard it here first
this is in no way a rumor or a confirmation but wouldnt it be sort of logical for axl rose to play seeing as he is now gnr but chinese democracy just came out and well it just seems logical to me
Fat Boy Slim? Offspring? They both blow. If you want rock music then let’s get Pearl Jam, Janes Addiction or Queens of the Stoneage. I can go w/Snoop but FBS and Offspring wouldn’t be worth it. And my guess is that the mention of these two is what made Austin spew just like I did. Can’t believe there are still FBS and Offspring fans walking around.
austin - no clue, but that’s pretty gross. hope it didn’t seep into the keyboard!
Natalie. - Has Frou Frou played together at any point within the past couple of years? That would be sick…I def wouldn’t want to miss that!
Can anyone guess why i just spewed bile all over my keyboard?
How about Fat Boy Slim (cuz u need some dance music), Offspring (cuz u need some rock), and Snoop Dogg (cuz he’s a badd ass rapper) those should b ur 3 top headliners and i really dont give a shit what any1 else thinks.
I seriously hope Nine Inch Nails plays again next year. My favorite band. EVER. I didn’t get to fully enjoy their performance though, cause I was hooking up with some random guy while Trent was playing. =(
It would be awesome if Red Hot Chili Peppers made an appearance. Or Pearl Jam. Or Love and Rockets/Bauhaus again. And Rage Against the Machine (even if I almost died in their mosh pit).
I also think it would be pretty rad if like, Frou Frou or t.A.T.u. performed.
hmmm. i think red hot chili peppers should preform again…i would definately drive three days to see them! not that it is likely that they would play or anything.
I really have no idea who would play next year. I think the best way to tell would be to stay on top of upcoming albums by big bands. I mean, Radiohead didnt even release In Rainbows last year until February or something. That was long after the lolla dates were announced. So the best guess for whos gonna play would be big bands that are about to release albums that have a big buzz.
i agree. janes is a great band. even to this day they can ( and hopefully will again) still jam and get your blood flowing. i would love to see them headline lollapalooza 2009!
wow i guess someone has no clue the meaning and doors janes opened. they were a brillant and great live band. one of the best ive seen period! a janes reunion would be huge for lollapalooza and for real music fans.
Fuck jeans adiction they suck ass hole big suck suck jeans adicction fuck them fuck them up and down
Steph, I doubt any one has been confirmed for next year already, but I’m sure you can put Jane’s Addiction in the somewhat realistic category. Be sure to check out our Festival Outlook page for all the latest news and rumors.
http://consequenceofsound.net/festival-outlook/
is it true theres a janes addiction reunion rumor floating about??
And guess who’s getting a hotel early this year. This guy!!!
