Stream: That Lucky Old Sun
If you’re like me, then you have a sweet spot for sixty-something recluses. If you’re really like me, then Pet Sounds is one of your favorite albums of all time, with 2004’s Smile shortly following. If you don’t know who I’m talking about by now, then you’re shit out of luck… or, just uninformed. Truth be told, Brian Wilson has a new album out, and it’s his first real post-Smile album yet.
Titled That Lucky Old Sun, Wilson’s seventh solo studio album (say that twice as fast) is due out September 2nd. Though thanks to the wonderful, magical world of the internet, the new record is currently streaming via USA Today. Just for your information, I’ve spun this record a few times on vinyl (review coming soon) and it’s a wonderful listen.
If you’re having a good day, or even a bad one, Wilson’s poppy new sensibilities will surely bring a “smile” to your face. Oh, and pun absolutely, positively, no doubt about it… intended. See what this stuff has done to me? I’m a giddy Jew over here.
