Check Out: Metallica’s “My Apocalypse”
After the boring, sprawling “The Day That Never Comes” last week, it’s nice to see the “bad boys” of metal come back with something, oh, I don’t know, memorable? After all, each member of Metallica has been spouting off for the past few months that the new record, Death Magnetic, is a return to roots. To be honest, last week’s single was beyond disappointing, it was an agonizing seven or eight minutes. Yeah, yeah, I know I sound like a drama queen, but the hype was exceedingly high. And for what?
Fortunately, “My Apocalypse” (stream above, watch below) is the answer every Metallica fan has been waiting for, complete with punchy guitars, crashing cymbals, and thudding bass. I’d paint a better picture for you, but why don’t you check it out for yourself. Be forewarned, however, you may find yourself moshing… alone… next to your computer.

SUFFER UNTO MY APOCALYPSE!!!!!!!!!
The first half minute reminds me of Harvester of Sorrow. Finally something that is decent from this band.
They lived up to the hype, here.
I hate to jump too quickly in saying whether this album will or won’t be a reignited and somewhat reborn Metallica, but I will say this…
that song has GOT to be their next big classic!
“Claustrophobic! Climb out of this skin…
heart, explosive…
reach and pull that pin.”
Is it me, or does it seems like Lars is way off on his beat?
