Oasis kicks off world tour, releases music video, and starts selling its uniquely titled album
A lot is going on in the world of Oasis these dates. With the band’s cleverly titled, new studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, due out the first week of October, the Gallagher brothers currently find themselves enthralled in all the necessary obligations of a new release. They’re touring, releasing music singles and music videos, and even begining to sell pre-orders of their seventh studio album. At least Ryan Adams took care of the tour guide for them.
So where should we begin? Well, last night’s concert at the WaMu Theater in Seattle, Washington did officially mark the start of the start of their worldwide tour, and well, that seems like a pretty big deal. As The Popscene notes, show #1 saw Oasis thrill fans with a 18-song set, which included four new selections (”The Shock of Lightning”, “To Be Where There’s Life”, “Ain’t Got Nothin”, and “Falling Down”) along with an acoustic rendition of “Don’t Look Back In Anger”.
If you’re more interested in what Mr. Adams performed, head on over to the Ryan Adams Archive.
Yesterday also marked the official unveiling of Oasis’ new music video for single #1, “The Shock of Lightning”. In typical Noel Gallagher fashion, the Julian House & Julian Gibbs directed video is heavy in facial closeups…
Like the Dig Out Your Soul’s boxset, which is now also available to American fans in all its Chemical Brother remixes/four vinyls/DVD glory, “The Shock of Lightning” single is now available for pre-order.
And finally, if all this wasn’t enough to tickle your Oasis fancy, you now have the opportunity to download news new song featuring both the Gallaghers and Jay-Z. While the tunes aren’t the result of any new, friendly collaboration, the Cookin Soul created mixtape did take samples from both acts to create a rather catchy and free mixtape. You can get it here.
