Check Out: Of Montreal’s “Nonpareil of Favor”

Though Skeletal Lamping, the newest crazed album from neo-pych rockers Of Montrea l, isn’t set for release until October 7th, Kevin Barnes and fellow freaks have graced fans with one of the album’s songs via Rolling Stone. The song has most of the qualities from last year’s Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? , (wacky melodies, even wackier harmonies, and funky synth) though the lyrical content appears to be much more joyous, in which the protagonist appears to be giving loads of thanks to someone. After two minutes of quiet, the track explodes into fuzzed out guitar and drum mayhem. With songs like this, who knows what else is in store for us on the new album?

The group will be hosting (though will not be in attendance) a “Skeletal Lamping Laser Listening Session” at Seatle’s Laser Dome @ Pacific Science Center, September, 12th, before continuing into a full-fledged tour in October.
