Pixies consider new album

Pixies consider new album

If the rumors are true, then Black Francis may soon have to take a break from those “under the bridge” performances for a while. In its typical tabloid style reporting, NME got the buzz going with a report over the weekend that the Pixies frontman would be unopposed to reuniting the band for a new studio album.

“It’s just a waiting game right now,” Francis said. “Whatever we do in the future is gonna have to be fresh.

“I have to see if the band as a whole wants to go into the recording studio for a new record,” he added. “That makes sense on some level. For us, there’s gotta be an angle. It can’t be just playing our old songs over and over.”

While of course, nothing is confirmed and Francis is currently busy with his own solo tour, the comments have resulted in a fury of speculation and anticipation for what would be the follow up to 1991’s Trompe Le Monde.

Black Francis 2008 Tour Dates:
08/22 - Del Mar, CA @ Summer Concert Series
09/28 - Freemantle, Australia @ Metropolis
09/29 - Adelaide, Australia @ HQ Complex
10/01 - Brisbane, Australia @ Arena
10/02 - Melbourne, Australia @ Forum
10/04 - Sidney, Australia @ The Great Escape

  1. Last I heard Frank was recording with Pete Yorn for his new album, with a Bright Eyes producer.

  2. Same show how like same setlist EVERY time or what?

  3. Nathan, did you see them on their reunion tour? Same show each time. Not a good thing, in my opinion. I support the decision to do new music before coming back again… and with a new show, too.

  4. Gah please be true. Probably won’t happen… but please. Happen.

  5. I would be fine with them just playing their old stuff…but hey, new is fine too

  6. This made my day what fantastic news. I just wish I wasn’t sick.

  7. [...] Could it be? [...]
