Thievery Corporation to offer Radio Retaliation
After a summer which saw the Washington based DJ duo bring its Outernational Music Tour to a number of folks around the country, Thievery Corporation will look to kick off the fall season with a brand new studio album. Due for release on September 9th via iTunes and and the 23rd as a physical release, Radio Retaliation, will offer the band’s first new material since 2005’s The Cosmic Game. What’s more, like its predecessor, Radio Retaliation will feature a number of guest collaborations from the likes of Brazilian artist Seu Jorge, Indian sitar player Anushka Shankar, and Slovakian violinist Jana Andevska.
“Radio Retaliation is definitely a more overt political statement,” says [Rob] Garza “There’s no excuse for not speaking out at this point, with the suspension of habeas corpus, outsourced torture, illegal wars of aggression, fuel, food, and economic crises. It’s hard to close your eyes and sleep while the world is burning around you. If you are an artist, this is the most essential time to speak up.”
A Radio Retaliation sampler can be heard on the band’s myspace. In support of the release, Thievery Corporation will place a number of shows in the fall, while also hitting the festival circuit in the spring and summer of ‘09
