High Places ready debut, unveil first single

Since their inception in 2006, Brooklyn’s own eclectic duo High Places has been grabbing ears for a rather unique, signature sound that offers plentiful instrumentation behind exceptional song-writing. A mix of hardcore, indie, and trance with lots of sonic haziness, tribal percussion and echoing vocals amidst an electronic backdrop, the duo of Robert Barber and Mary Pearson has since been churning out single after single, earning acclaim from the music scene and attention from labels.

After signing with Thrill Jockey earlier this year and subsequently releasing all their singles in a nice, tidy package this past July, High Places is ready to unveil their self-titled debut. Due out for release on September 23rd, the Brooklynites are now offering the first taste of what surely will be their more definitive sound and cohesive release to date with the album’s first single, “From Stardust to Sentience”. Set to be High Places’ finale, the new track is a soothing, ambient lullaby that will definitely create a peaceful and sultry end for the album. What’s more, the tune also features Pearson singing eloquently about space, the effects of gravity and even the desert!
