Rage Against the Machine goes a capella for RNC protest
Rage Against the Machine is certainly a fitting name for Zack de la Rocha and company. After last week’s protest of the Democratic National Convention, rumors started up that an impromptu Rage performance would take place yesterday, which turned out to be true… sort of. The show was said to be happening on the lawn of the Minnesota Capital, but as the band was introduced by fellow performers Anti-Flag, police rushed to the scene to rage against the Rage, shutting the show down, despite the show’s legal permit. After the crowd got rowdy, chanting “Fuck you, I won’t do what you told me!” repeatedly, Zack and Tom Morello performed “Bulls on Parade” with a megaphone, Tom creating the famous funk riff with his vocal chords.
Following the chant, the group led protesters to the XCell Center, where the convention took place. Nearly 3,000 of them made it as far as the barriers and police dispensed tear gas. Just goes to show you - the name of this band is more than fitting.
The group is scheduled to make another performance at tonights RNC.
It must have been awesome to be in that crowd.

most important ever? More than the Beatles, or the Clash? You ever heard of the Weavers? Or Creedence? Or even Sly and the Family Stone?
Edit add “one of the” before political thing lol. I actually looked at my clash poster after i put that and laughed. I meant modern but I forgot to say it. Although Rage is the most active since every time they play near a political event it ends in a huge protest/riot. Considering this is a time of political inactivity I am always impressed that these guys will lead riots/protests (see the sleep now in the fire vid)

that was awesome! i wish i was there to give the finger alongside them. i think that video was probably more powerful than the RNC could ever hope to be.
