Kanye West plans new album, helps Jay-Z get ready

Even with his touring obligations all but out of the way, Kanye West remains a very busy man. In what will be the next step in the Chicago native’s pursuit to make sure “you’ll be telling your kids about him,” West appears set to release a new studio album by the end of the year. The follow up to 2007’s Graduation, which could see light as soon as December — at least according to disc jockey/Def Jam A&R DJ Semtex –will be headed by its first single, “Love Lockdown”, on Monday, September 8th.

While neither Kanye, his MacBook Air, nor his blog have officially confirmed the release, news of West’s fourth studio album does indeed come as a surprise. As Hip Hop n More points out, the hip-hop star wasn’t expected to unveil a new solo effort in 2008, especially considering all his producing obligations, one of which will also be making its debut very soon.

On Sunday, Jay-Z will release “Swagger Like Us” as a download, the first single off his upcoming album, The Blueprint 3. The West-produced track (part of a collaboration we first learned about last month), reportedly features samples from M.I.A.’s ever popular “Paper Planes” in between verses from Lil Wayne and T.I. The record is also expected to see release before the end of the year.
