Voodoo adds more names to its experience

In less than two months (October 24-26), fans will travel to New Orleans to take in the sights and sounds of the 2008 edition of the Voodoo Music Experience. Looking to add more to the “experience,” folks behind Big Easy based have announced several new names to its 10th annual lineup.

It had always been our plan to announce additional artists today. However, in light of the events of the past week the importance of including New Orleans artists seems even more appropriate. We are very happy to announce Porter, Batiste & Stoltz, Irma Thomas, Hot 8 Brass Band, Hot Club of New Orleans, Vavavoom, Leo Nocentelli, Dr. Michael White Jazz Band, 101 Indian Runners and ManWitch will all play on the WWOZ/ SoCo stage, the Preservation Hall Tent or Bingo! Parlor. In addition, we have added The Mars Volta, TV on the Radio, N.E.R.D., Eagles of Death Metal, Angels and Airwaves, Butthole Surfers, Fishbone and many more.

Other new names include Dead Confederate, Ben Jelen, The Dirtbombs, Sam & Ruby, The Knux, Gravity A, Mad Mike, CHANT, and Ashes diVIDE, Common Thread, Crooked, and World’s Most Dangerous.

However, the additions do come at a cost as Death Cab For Cutie no longer appears on the announced lineup.

Along with the new names, Voodoo has also unveiled its day-by-day lineup. Tickets are still available via ticketmaster.com.
