Murs announces candidacy with album and tour
Believing he is the only man who is qualified to represent hip-hop to the masses, underground rapper Murs has announced his candidacy for President. Supported by his upcoming seventh studio album and major label debut, Murs for President, due out September 30th, and a number of recently announced dates on the campaign trail, the 30-year-old Los Angeles natives will soon offer his platform for all to enjoy consider.
“Let me speak for hip-hop. I’m the one guy who is qualified to represent us to the masses — which are obviously tired of us because hip-hop often can’t sell records. It can only sell ringtones. It’s become a mockery of itself. It’s become club music. For us to lead back into the marketplace and to be a respected art form, I feel that I’m the most qualified person. It’s time for hip-hop to have a change.”
- Murs
Voters got their first opportunity to check out Murs styles and ideas at the Democratic National Convention. Murs For President is now available for pre-orders.

I like Murs. 3:16 is a classic. But I’m a little bored with all the self-congratulating of the underground. Forget about “taking back the radio for real hip hop”….the radio is dying anyway. Concentrate on your art and quit whining.
The only record in the last 3 years to sell a million copies the first week was Hip-Hop. The last album that sold a million copies in a week 3 years ago was also Hip-Hop. When has Murs ever sold any records? I am not questioning his talent, but this makes no sense.
Murs is the truth! We need a change right now because hip-hop is going on a tangent. Thanks Murs for lookin fly and caring about the hip-hop nation!
Love the video
