David Gilmour and Sex Pistols spin DVDs, rumors galore
There’s an old saying that goes “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” We are positive one could lump the Sex Pistols into said colloquialism after rumors of a possible new album over 30 years since the release of Never Mind The Bollocks…. That still remains merely a rumor, but we do have something else new for the masses.
After a series of reunion shows in Brixton during 2007, Johnny Rotten and all of the original members are presenting a live DVD on October 14th of this year, complete with 1.5 hours of bonus footage covering the band as they visit old London stomping grounds. Around the same time, Never Mind The Bollocks… will be released on 180-gram vinyl in true vintage fashion.
“Buy one get one for the same price as one.” - Johnny Rotten
The boys should take a lesson from the real old school when considering a new album. Former Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, after many blatant attempts to steer public demand away from an apparently null and void Floyd reunion, is putting out the Gdansk, Poland solo tour material for all to see. However, in reference to a reunion of Floyd, the 62-year old progressive rock vet stated, “It isn’t to do with animosity or anything like that. It’s just that I’ve done that. I’ve been there, I’ve done it.”
David Gilmour Live in Gdansk, a double-live recording and DVD is scheduled to be out on September 23rd. When asked about the location choice, Gilmour said that it was intended to be gigs from various locales but it was coincidence that most of his best performances occurred in Gdansk. Along for the ride also is Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, and the Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sorry to disappoint our Pink Floyd fanbase, but they really do know when to say “when.” As for these pieces of merchandise, keep a look out as the holiday season rolls up.
