The Dears gear up for Missles

Despite a number of well-documented internal conflicts, The Dears are now ready to unveil their newest studio effort, Missles. Set for release on October 21st via Dangerbird Records, the 10-track album promises to feature a culmination of the Montreal outfit’s entire career, offering “complex arrangements serving as the foundation for their epic and emotive storytelling.”

Recorded quickly, the album is a feast of stripped-down arrangements and raw emotion served up like a rustic meal, its songs polished but still containing traces of the rough soil from which they were born… [Murray] Lightburn is the confessor: first decoding, then submitting. Yanchak, whose striking voice is more present than on past albums, is the protector: nurturing and unbreakable.

In addition to the new record, The Dears have also announced plans to be re-issue 2003’s No Cities Left on August 12th along with a number of North American tour dates.

  1. After the success of No Cities Left, and NME calling them “the best band in the world” I was amazed at how much Gang of Losers went under the radar. Personally I think it surpassed anything they had done previously.

    p.s. “Money Babies” is great

  3. I’ve come around… the new album is incredible, took time to ‘get it.’ Even better live… excellent!
