Guitar Hero nabs Tool, some other goodies

For those of you out there who are too cool or hardcore to pick up the plastic axe and wail away at Guitar Hero, I have news for you. Of all the bands in the world who are anti-capitalist and somewhat reclusive, Tool, has agreed to release material for the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour video game.

In a news report posted on the band’s website, Tool will release three songs to the game: “Parabola” and “Schism” from Lateralus and “Vicarious” from their 2006 (and last) release 10,000 Days. In addition to these tracks, there will also be a Tool themed venue, highlighting familiar artwork from past Tool concerts. Sadly, this is the only recent Tool news worthy of reporting, however time is creeping up for the band to possibly return to the studio.

On a side note, Tool isn’t the only band with added specialty baggage, as the upcoming game will debut the new Smashing Pumpkins single, “G.L.O.W.”, and will feature playable characters such as Billy Corgan and The Police’s Sting. With that and some other surprises (e.g. Steve Miller Band, Wings, & Dream Theater), Guitar Hero: World Tour should hold a candle or two to the ultra-hyped release of its brother rival game, Rock Band II-especially with a set list like this.

Anyhow, if you’re feeling a little Tool deprived, feast your eyes on this video from 1993’s Reading Festival.
