No way! New Ryan Adams songs?
It seems exhausting trying to keep tabs on everything Ryan Adams. If he’s not fiddling about on YouTube, he’s writing a book or better yet, touring with Oasis. Speaking of touring, a couple nights ago in Boston, the erratic songwriter (along with The Cardinals) debuted some new tunes, which will surely find its way onto his upcoming release, The Cardinals III/IV.
There’s the very Neil Young-esque “Fix It”, the bluegrass styled “Sinking Ship”, the rocky punch of “The Color of Pain”, and the more atmospheric “Cobwebs.” All the tunes stray from last year’s Easy Tiger some, but it’s less of a reinvention than some might expect. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just unexpected coming from an artist who’s responsible for both Heartbreaker and Rock N’ Roll. Overall, those who were pleased with last year’s mini-Cardinals release, Follow the Lights, should find solace here.
All in all, the bootlegs off the show are excellent and thanks to Stereogum, we have some to provide for you below. Take a gander, or a listen, and wait patiently… some new Adams stuff will be flooding your iPods in no time.
Probably just in time to go with that new book of his, too.
