Holy Westerberg, Batman! A new song!
Minnesota native, Paul Westerberg, is having a creative orgasm lately. He released the twenty-minute scatterbox “3oclockkreep” only a week or so ago, the stocky 5:05 shortly before that, and of course, his “fifty-cent” album, 49:00, which made its way online this past summer. Hell, there’s so much Westerberg going around, it’s hard to keep up. But we like it that way, and we’re glad he does to…
“Bored of Edukation” is the new .99 cent single, available only through Amazon.com. With the now typical style of fading between demos, the song starts in such a fashion, but quickly adjusts into a simple, straightforward song. What a relief, huh? It is. The chorus is catchy and while the lyrics are a bit spoonfed compared to his past work (e.g. “Don’t ask me why school ain’t more fun/Bored of education”), its all poppy and fun. Not to mention, Westerberg’s guitar work is splendid, too.
