Consequence of Sound celebrates one year!

Consequence of Sound celebrates one year!

One year ago this week, a blog launched. At first, it was intended merely to be an outlet for a full-time college student/part-time aspiring writer to voice his views on the music world. Little did he know that some 365 days later, his simple blog would develop into a full-fledged music outlet, featuring a staff of 19 writers and contributors and a loyal readership not afraid to offer its opinions.

Consequence of Sound is this website, I am this person, and today, we celebrate an anniversary. Since officially launching on September 13, 2007, I have watched CoS grow beyond even my wildest imagination. Since that day, the site has seen 2,400 articles posted, 5,500 readers comments, 14 music festivals covered, three different website layouts, and a dangerously high amount of caffeine consumed - all with the ultimate goal of providing the best music coverage on the web.

And now we’re ready to offer something else, something new, something just for you. Whether a long-time reader or a recent newcomer, your readership is what inspires us each and every day, and for that, we’d like to thank you with a special gift.

In celebration of Consequence of Sound’s one-year anniversary, we put together a special mixtape. However, unlike our popular Friday Mixtapes, this one is much more unique. In fact, up until now, the songs appearing on it have never been heard. The eight tracks that make up our One Year Anniversary Mixtape are all 100% brand spanking new, created by some of our favorite artists for the sole purpose of celebrating this glorious occasion.

It is our gift to you. Other than your continued readership, we ask for nothing in return.

One Year Anniversary Mixtape Tracklist:
01. DJ Chachi - “Bille Jean Get’s Laid”
02. Red Hot Chili Peppers - “Otherside” (DJ Riz B-More Remix)
03. The Sweet Serenades - “Mona Lee” (Artymove Remix)
04. Dream Bitches - “Video Games”
05. Golden Bloom - “Sarah White (Raw Power Mix)”
06. Chromeo and Skyy - “Call Me Up Me Call” (Immuzikation Blend) *
07. Kittens Ablaze - “Wandering Song”
08. The Motion Sick - Winged Bicycle

* = Please note the correct labeling

Perhaps the most incredible part of the whole experience thus far is the fact that we are only celebrating our first anniversary. To think that all the above accomplishments and experiences took place in the span of one year is truly mind-blowing.

But then I think of the future, the goals we have yet to achieve, the plans we have yet to fulfill, and I realize Consequence of Sound is only going to get better. Buckle up, it’s certainly going to be one hell of a ride.

  13. Happy Birthday guys! You have been doing an awsome job and I check this website daily. As a first time Coachella goer and new to the whole music festival scene, I was glad that there was a sing website that had updates on all the music festivals in one nicely organized place.

Now with the music reviews and news articles this website has been my go to place for music related things. Mad props to you guys, you’ve gone an amazing job!
