After a year that included the release of the awesome Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon and the beginning of a relationship with beautiful actress Natalie Portman, professional weirdo and psych-rocker exrtaordinaire Devendra Banhart ain’t finished yet. As previously rumored, the Venezuelan-American folk singer is now a member of the rock duo appropriately named Megapuss. Teaming up with Priestbird’s multi-instrumentalist/percussionist, Greg Rove, the two will release their album, Surfing, through Neil Young’s Vapor Records digitally on September 16th and physically on October 7th (via Jambase).

Following the album’s digital release, Megapuss will be embarking on a mini-tour with fellow side projects, including the likes of Strokes’ drummer Fabrizio Moretti’s Little Joy (Moretti is assumed to be drumming for Megapuss) and The Entrance Band.
