Regina Spektor preps new album, appearance with Ben Folds on Conan
Consider we probably fit the definition of “diehards” when it comes to Regina Spektor - after all, one of her songs is our namesake - we try to stay on top of all of the New York based singer’s upcoming activities.
So to say the recently posted blog on Ms. Spektor’s MySpace excited us would probably be an understatement. In the rather lengthy posting, the 28-year-old singer/songwriter offered details of her summer activities (the True Colors tour, a performance at Outside Lands, a support stint for Ani DiFranco, etc.) and provided some hints of things to come.
Besides making a guest appearance on Ben Folds upcoming album, Way to Normal, and “awesome music video,” Spektor will join the fellow piano lover for a very special performance of their duet, “You Don’t Know Me” on October 2nd…
…we are going to do the song together on Conan O’Brien, (who rules!… in a non- evil- power- hungry way), and i’m very excited. I may even get to be on TV standing and not sitting, for the first time ever… though i may get spooked last minute and beg Ben to let me sit behind the piano and hide as usual… Ah… i just made myself nervous and it’s not till Oct. 2nd… yes… the feeling of utter fear and panic, so familiar and yet new and terrifying in its own special way every time…
- Regina Spektor
Of course, all this pales in comparision to the the news Spektor subtly dropped using just one line - ” a record has been started, and not finished yet..” Sure, it’s not even a full sentence, but the notion that Ms. Consequence of Sound herself will be offering up some new material sometime in the near future has us quietly fist pumping in the air.
