Eminem still at work, though apparently human

Besides a rather downplayed confirmation in June, we haven’t heard much about Eminem and his upcoming new studio album. In fact, if it wasn’t for 50 Cent and his role as unofficial spokesman for Marshall Mathers, we probably wouldn’t even know that the Detroit native is currently at work on the follow up to 2004’s Encore. Hot off the announcement of his own new record, 50 has again taken on the role, sharing a few new Eminem related tidbits to BBC Radio.

You’ll be seeing [Eminem] shortly. He’s working. I spent the weekend at his house. Even though he tries to relax and stay home it’s impossible for him to stay in.

A lot of material he wrote prior to this is being scrapped. He’s got to feel like it’s just happened, it’s new and it’s current. That’s just how he is creatively as an artist.

No Rock and Rull Fun has its own conclusions pertaining to the creative struggle. We’ll stay out of the guessing games for now, but at least there is now, maybe, possibly an explanation as to why Eminem failed to show at Nelson’s B-Day earlier this summer? Either that, or he’s just too choked up over the news of TRL’s demise.

At least we know now that not everything comes easy even for someone like Eminem. Aspiring hip-hoppers should take note.
