Langerado announces 2009 dates and home

Believe it or not, preparations are already well under way for a number of our favorite early summer music festivals. South by Southwest, Coachella, and Beale Street Music Festival have already unveiled their 2009 dates, while Stagecoach has even talked lineup specifics. In fact, the days when lineup leaks are as frequent as Kanye West news - one of our favorite times of the year - are just right around the corner.

The Langerado Music Festival is the latest summer extravaganza to announce some early details. Scheduled to take place between March 6 and 8, the Florida based festival will again serve as the unofficial kickoff to the 2009 summer season. However this time around, Langerado will offer itself in a more populated, the result of a to leave the Everglades’ Big Cypress Indian Reservation in favor of Miami and its more music friendly nightlife.

The 7th annual Langerado will feature 3 full days of live music on multiple stages spread throughout Bicentennial Park’s 30 acres of lush tropical foliage. Late night shows will take place at multiple venues throughout Miami, including downtown, the Design District and world famous South Beach.

The lineup and additional details will be announced in early November. In an interview with Billboard, festival co-producer Ethan Schwartz revealed a good portion of the acts are already booked.

“From who we’ve booked so far it’s going to be really fresh…I would say that 75%-80% of the bands have never played the festival before.”

Schwartz went on to note that 35,000 daily attendees are expected for next year’s edition of Langerado with ticket prices ranging between $175-$200.

Until then, check out our Festival Outlook for all the latest rumors.

  1. Hm, interesting, seems they are taking the fest in a whole new direction. I’ll have to keep my eye on this one now!

  2. I will miss the late night outdoor shows. Miami is always a spectacle. Something to be said for a unique spectacle. I will admit there is also something to be said for taking showers…

  3. what a way to ruin what seemed like a great festival at big cypress. i had a blast roamin’ around! way better than markham park. looks like they’re regressing, really are on cloud nine!!

  4. Stoooked

  5. Unbelievable. I hope these promoters didn’t get too “high and almighty” by thinking their destination, venue, previous and previous attendance was so bulletproof that they could take a completely different direction. You’d think everyone would learn from Vegoose that a lot of change at once is no good.

  6. can anyone tell me the confirmed names for beale street music festival so far also any big names.

  7. Terrible idea… there are many against going to Bicentennial… and 75-80% of the bands are new? Well I hope you jerks bring back the good acts because I liked all the old bands that have played before. Maybe they are going for the 12-16 braces-wearing teenyboppers. Please no Britney Spears @ Langerado.

  8. Big Cypress was a terrible venue. Ants everywhere and the ground was so hilly. I’m glad its moved.

Radiohead and Phish to headline? Probably only in my fantasies.

  9. I am not thrilled about the venue. I can not stand Bicentennial Park. Not even a big fan of miami. I am looking forward to seeing the lineup but the venue I think will deter me away this year. big Cypress had its issues but its waaaaaaaaay better than the place this year. Even Markham Park is better than Bicentennial. It seems as if they are really trying to change things to be more mainstream.

  10. little wayne too headline!

  11. Source?

  12. passes on sale now! also the confirmed line-up is posted here.

  13. [...] around, the Florida based festival will call Miami’s Bicentennial Park home. The lineup will apparently be “fresh,” but so far, aside from a few questionable rumors, we only know one confirmed name for sure:  [...]

  14. [...] change of venue is not the only anticipated change to the festival; according to Consequence of Sound, festival co-producer Ethan Schwartz said that, “It’s going to be really fresh…I would say [...]
