Umphrey’s McGee plots fall tour, holiday shows

It’s no surprise that Umphrey’s McGee is always on the road. Given its genre, bands like McGee are born for the stage, which might explain why the band’s booking holiday shows, as well. Between Halloween and New York’s Eve, the Chicago natives have both its fall season and typical family time booked away. But hey, who’s to complain? If they’re up for the job, why shouldn’t we be too?

Considering the band has been prepping for an upcoming studio release, penciled in for early 2009, this tour is a great present to its fan base, and those should expect to hear new cuts live. Personally, for those that can make the trek, that Chicago New Year’s residency at The Auditorium Theatre looks to be your best bet for some of the “greatest shows on the tour.” It’s just the band’s tradition to end things in the greatest city of the nation.

But, I might be partial, given that I’m a Chicagoan myself.
