In anticipation of the November 25th release Day & Age, The Killers have given fans an early taste of what to expect from the band’s third full-length studio album. During his program on BBC Radio One last night, Zane Lowe debuted a song entitled, “Human”, a synth-friendly selection currently slated to be the album’s first single.
Frontman Brandon Flowers has described the song as “Johnny Cash meets the Pet Shop Boys,” which seems like a pretty fair statement. “Human” is definitely much more subdued than some of The Killers previous singles – “When You Were Young” and “Mr. Brightside” – choosing to go with a more atmospheric style behind the band’s standard image filled lyrics. Whether this song is a reflection of the album as a whole remains to be seen, but we wouldn’t be at all surprised by an overall change up in sound. After all, Stuart Price, best known for his work on Madonna’s Confessions, is behind the production aspect of the record.
